1) st. james striped shirt $89 via general store 2) cablecrew sweater $85 via madewell; 3) keeper chambray shirt $78 via jcrew
I'm really not trying to bore you to death with my wish list today. The bottom line is, I'm in need of some basic tops! Since I think certain family members might be looking at the blog for ideas (wink, wink), I thought I'd include some items I could really use. Let there be no doubt, my first pick is definitely the St. James shirt. And if you're thinking to yourself, "doesn't she own enough striped stuff already" my response to you is, no, no I don't. I need this shirt in my life. NEED.

Zara Online Shop
Zara's online shop is finally open for business as of today! Here are my favorite picks for fall:
1) boat neck dress $79.90 2) shirt with shoulder gathering $59.90 3) biker ankle boot $99 4) bell bottom jeans $59.90 5) large motera bag $129
As you can tell, I'm still thinking about my work wardrobe (or lack thereof). My last office was wonderfully casual but I think it's about time I took it up a notch. These staples seem like good affordable options to get my fall work wardrobe started, don't you think?

One Top, Two Ways (New Series?)
I really like the design of this top (£17.99) including the rolled cuffs, shoulder pleats, and exposed zipper in the back. I generally have a hard time wearing brown because I have brown hair, brown eyes, and it tends to be, well, a bit boring for me. I put together two outfits to see if I could punch up the color a bit.
zara serge hose 25,95 EUR ($36)/ private eye necklace- vintage lucite and gunmetal $25/ cooperative loop sandal $29/ zoe-vintage by hobo $88
widelegger jeans $125/ on the veld wedge $89.99/ nicolux fabric bracelets $12 each / goldie and stripes reversible bag $110
What do you think? Is this type of post something you'd like to see a bit more on D&OC? I think it could be a fun series and I'd love to hear your feedback.
update- Are you thinking about purchasing an item but not sure how you'd wear it? Want suggestions on affordable products to go with your new purchase? Email me and I might just include it in this new series! xo

D&OC Loves: Peter Pan Collars
savannah tank dress via nasty gal $58/ the golden afternoon dress via red velvet $60/ orange lace peter pan dress via dorothy perkins £35.00/ lace peter pan dress via new look £28.99/ peter pan shift by rare via topshop $90/ cherbourg dress by dear creatures via ruche ($124.99 currently out of stock)
cooperative conversational peter pan blouse via uo $39/ vintage 1950's embroidered sleeveless blouse via in perpetuity $48/ lace peter pan collar blouse via asos $53.79/ short sleeve peter pan blouse via french toast $9.98 (seen here)/ petite stripe peter pan top via dorothy perkins £18.00/ tulip print peter pan blouse via topshop $66/ white lace insert peter pan sleeveless blouse via topshop $60
The Peter Pan collar became popular in the early to mid 20th century having been donned by women and children alike. Since then, it's mostly been worn by children but that doesn't deter me from loving it or wearing it for that matter. I realize this look isn't for everyone but I welcome the cheeky, girly, retro Peter Pan collar with open arms. What do you think? Is this a trend best left behind along with your school girl uniform?

Vintage: Awoke on a whale heart
nucleus dress $65 / swiss dress $65
ellington blouse $28 / cavic blouse $32
heroine dress $69 / harper dress $65
I'm not sure I have the words to describe the pure awesomeness that is Awoke Vintage. I think it suffices to say that I would be totally content with my vintage clothing collection by simply scooping up everything this shop has to offer. Awoke is an Australian based vintage shop that ships to the U.S. (for under $10) and it has so many amazing dresses, I'm not sure which one to choose from and the fact that almost all of the dresses are elastic waisted makes them even more attractive. If you're a wear a lot of vintage dresses, you'll know what I mean. Normally I don't get stumped this badly, but seriously- I want this one and this one and this one and this one...

Vintage: Na Nin for Need Supply Co.
Have you seen the recent collaboration between Na Nin Vintage and Need Supply Co? It's a little match made in heaven if you ask me.
I sure do hope that Need Supply Co. continues with these vintage collaborations. It's an interesting idea to partner with a vintage buyer who has experience curating items.Obviously the idea worked for me since I purchased this dress without much deliberation (the back corset tie sold me). Check out the full selection of vintage items here.

Silk + Dots
I think these hand painted silk tee's ($78) by Rachel Rose are effortlessly chic and so very pretty. I can't decide which I like better, the coral or the navy so I'm putting both on my birthday wish list (yes, I realize my b-day is in July, but it's never too early to start).
I'll be interested to see what other silk sweetness this new shop will have to offer. Check out the current selection here.

Wishlist 7.7.10
It's about to get really HOT here in Athens and I'm not convinced that my wardrobe is prepared. I have yet to purchase anything from Madewell but I have two items on my list today that would be perfect to keep me cool (as in body temp not personality, you with me?)
The black tank romper would take care of night time gallivants around town and the striped tank is available in one of my favorite colors and is perfect for the weekends or layered under a short sleeved cardigan for work. If you've shopped at Madewell, I'd love to hear your opinions/suggestions/reviews/warnings etc.

Navy + White Nautical Tops Under $70
Classic, chic, timeless. What can I say about the navy and white nautical top that hasn't already been said? Well, I can tell you that I've owned a blue + white striped top since I was able to pay for my own clothing (around 14 years old) and there are currently 3 options in my closet (yes, I counted.) This quintessential piece defies trends and that is why it will remain a staple in my wardrobe.
{via}
I've rounded up 8 affordable options from basic tee shirts to embellished tanks and interesting shapes.
1)Striped Pocket Top $12.80 via F21
2) BB Dakota Tatum Stripe Top $41.99 (on sale) via Piperlime
3) Striped Ruffle Racer Tank $17.50 via American Eagle
4) Lucca Couture Striped Tunic $28 via UO
5) Sea Level Top $64.99 via Modcloth
6) Capri Cardigan $68 via Boden
7) Multi Stripe Top $32 via Need Supply Co.
8) welcome aboard nautical sleeve top $31.99 via Ruche
Wondering how I would wear it? See this outfit post for an example. What do you think of the above options? Is this style already a staple in your closet?
(apparently I'm a little stripe crazy this week. It's not intentional, I promise)

It's always difficult to pick favorites at Ruche because I'd wear pretty much anything in the shop. If you haven't already, you must check out the Spring lookbook, it's styled beautifully. It's finally getting warm here and quite quickly. I'm vastly unprepared for warmer weather...

I first saw the shop Makool Loves You on Design is Mine This Portland based shop has a lot of reasonably priced goodies so of course I have to share my favorite items with you.
from top: barquentine skirt $128; pantalette set $52 (was $138); houlska $78; overgaard $88; blue agate $89
Isn't the styling spot on as well? I really want BOTH of those skirts. I can't be bothered with pants when it gets warmer.

Handmade Clothing: Janey
I realize in my haste to get things done, I completely ignored St. Patty's day. I know I'm a day late, but I thought I'd celebrate the day in my own way, by highlighting a talented Irish clothing designer, Janey. I ran across her work on Etsy and I adore the way she styles her pictures (look at that beach!) and her clothing downright adorable.
At $45 a pop, you get two pieces for under $100 and how amazing is that sequin detailing in the second photo?
