Wrap It Up: Touch of peach

Peach, grey, black, brown, gold, silver. It's an unexpected combination for the holidays but I think a touch of peach is so cheerful! Plus, I get worn out on red and green during the holidays so I'm always looking for alternative color schemes. A little peach might just be the ticket this year.

On another note, how are your turkey preparations coming? We're having an alternative meal of turkey lasagna this year since we're only hosting my sister and niece and in lieu of traveling to see family. It should be nice and low-key. It's been a busy week and I'm looking forward to taking a couple of days off. I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing holiday! I'll see you back here next week. xo

Birthday Packaging + Happy Weekend

B and I recently celebrated a couple of birthdays (his sister and mum) and I was able to use some vintage lace and string recently purchased for the wrapping. My favorite package is the little box with the birthday balloons.  Who doesn't love balloons on their birthday? 

Are you excited about the weekend? I know I am. My sister is coming in for a visit tomorrow and we have a couple of parties to attend and maybe a little shopping to do. How will you be spending your weekend?

TokyoMilk

I don't have a lot to say about beauty products here on D&OC unless the packaging is pretty and the price is right.  It's no surprise then that the gorgeous packaging on TokyoMilk is designed by Margot Elena, the same designer of another line I've featured, Love & Toast (both of these lines are as pretty as they are affordable).  I'll have to remember this line the next time I'm looking for a hostess or thank you gift. 

Wrap It Up: Hello Sandwich

I love packaging gifts about as much as I like reading which is to say, I REALLY love it.   I also really like to collect packaging inspiration which is why when I ran across Hello Sandwich's gift wrapping zine on Oh Joy, I knew I'd need a copy immediately.

This gift wrapping zine does not disappoint.  Hello Sandwich provides numerous DIY projects (I'll be making those cute bows on the next gift I wrap) as well as links to tons of supply shops and recommendations for materials.  If washi tape makes your heart go aflutter and bakers twine makes you weak in the knees, then this is the mag for you.  Available in PDF and hard copy formats. 

D&OC wraps it up Part II

Whew, how was you weekend?  I guess you can imagine what I've been doing.  Wrapping can make a girl tired!  If you missed my first "wrap it up" post where where I laboriously go through all of the supplies for this gift wrap, you can find it here.  I tried to wrap each gift differently, catering to the recipients personality as best I could.   If you'd like to see all of the packages, check out my flickr page (there's also some commentary with the photos about what worked and what didn't).  I still have some gifts to wrap this week, but the end is in sight!  How's your wrapping going?

D&OC wraps it up part I

Buying gifts can be fun but packaging, for me, is the really fun part!  I've gathered up my supplies and am going with a traditional red and green color scheme.  Some of these supplies were purchased at the local craft store while some were procured from different independent shops.  I've linked to the online shops below each of the photos.

Happy Weekend

My happy weekend post is very late this week, but for good reason.  B's been sick with a mysterious illness that gave him a giant double chin (i.e. his gland are incredibly swollen, I've never seen anything like it) and I have a fever and feel like s***.  Despite it all, I've begun working on my holiday wrapping project.  I plan on documenting the process and sharing it with you.  Sound good?
