I'm on the hunt for the perfect wedding dress (no friends, not an actual wedding dress, a "participant's dress). I'm going to a wedding in July; B is the best man and it's going to be in the mountains and my guess is, pretty casual. Here are my criteria: something fun (duh!), something I can wear over and over again, a piece I can dress up or down, and it must be under $100. The more I save on the dress, the more I can spend in other places...like shoes and accessories. It might be a bit early to start, but really, is it ever to early? Here are my picks for now, this will probably change and you will hear all about it ad naseam.
I like the color and pattern on this dress. It's fun but is it too country bumpkin?
Scarborough Fair Dress $79.99
source: Modcloth
I love that this is a classic cut and the color palette is nice too. I'm not a big fan of matching belts, so I'd probably replace it.
Flower Shop Dress $69.99
source: Modcloth
Halter style dresses flatter my shape and this is such a fun pattern and color.
Crimson Cobblestone Dress $64.99
source: Modcloth
This is a super, simple cut in a bright, fun color. I'm really liking the price and the fact that I could wear it just about everywhere, but it really doesn't fall under "fun" does it?
Linen Dress $40.80 (on sale from $68)
source: Tulle
This color makes me super happy and again it's a dress I could wear a lot, but I run a high chance of having the same dress as someone else as this is from the Gap. (ugh, I hate that feeling).
A-line Pintucked dress $59.50
source: Gap
Now this number does fall under fun, but is it too much for a wedding...oh wait, I don't know what I'm talking about, honestly, I don't care (sorry, but if I'm paying a lot to stay in a hotel room, I'm going to look good). Is that awful?
Custom Red and White polka dot dress braless dress $79
source: janebonbon
Ok, there's the preliminary list, but it doesn't include vintage (that will be a separate post, no need to overwhelm.) Tell me your thoughts!

I think the flower shop dress is lovely for a summer wedding, but why not go for the polka dot one? It's fabulous!
hm... after the million dresses I've looked at the past few days - and thinking of you - its too bad you weren't with me b/c there were several I thought "this would look good on Christina!" ha ha! Of these though - the 'crimson cobblestone' I think is my favorite, at least as far as which one would look good on me! but no seriously, I think it would look fabulous on you, its fun and looks really really comfy. I was going to say the yellow one at first b/c I think it would look fabulous on you, but it doesn't have quite the 'fun' factor as some of the others. oh and ps, I found 'some' for myself. I ended up buying 4 total. Just b/c! but no one knows when yet, so mum's the word!
I love the flower shop dress. It looks casual... but kind of formal if you wanted to take it in that direction. I love it!
I love the flower shop dress and the yellow dress. Even though the yellow one isn't "fun" I think it's super cute and you could wear it just about anywhere. Make it a little more fun with a belt maybe??
I love all these dresses! Personally, I'd go with the first one for the wedding...and I'd by the red and white polka dot dress just for fun! It's built almost exaclty like the one I'm wearing right now lol. Same shape, but mines's a halter and pale yellow with buttons running down the front. I paired it with a short sleeve cropped cardigan that's navy blue with pale yellow polka dots on it :)
It is never too early! I love the Flower Shop Dress and I think that you could get TONS of use out of it:) Please show us what you choose!
I love the one by Modcloth. SOOO cute. I'm on Weight Watchers right now, with the goal of wearing one of this too-cute dresses.
i really tihnk the flower dress, the 2nd one!
it will look really nice if its nice weather and up a mountain
and its a casual/smart dress so get some amazing shoes to go with it1xxxx
these dresses are so cute!!! and lucky you, you can wear just about anything! i think many would work and would be so fun to accessorize to jazz them up. i am having trouble deciding! and that is no surprise -- it can take me months to find a dress for a special event because i have to agonize over things. it is a pain, but whaddya gonna do!
Yep, my fave is the Flower Shop dress too with the big purple flowers--so cute! I know what you mean about matching belts, but I actually think this one looks really good. It would look beautiful on you! Isn't it fun looking for dresses for a wedding?! Being IN weddings is more stressful but I love being a guest!
I like the second dress... with purple flowers and I love the idea of putting a different belt with it! Let us know what you come up with! Also I tagged you for a little q & a...
I love the first one - the green. You can easily use this for both party and everyday life. I would like to buy it :-)
Personally prefer the red polka dots! But check out Urban Outfitters too they have really nice dresses for way below 100!
Okay I NEED that green dress!
Totally adoring your blog by the way!
I like the Flower Shop and Scarborough Fair dresses, as well as the red and white polka dot! Adorable. They all would look great for a casual summer wedding.
Ok...my thoughts:
The first one is really adorable, and may SEEM uber-country-ish, but paired with the right accessories would tone that down.
I love the second dress, agree about the different belt.
I love the idea of the yellow one b/c I love the color BUT I think it could be your most fun dress b/c of versatility. Think of all the fun options you could do with that one?
Can't wait to see your other choices!
i like the purple flowery dress!
i like #2.
Could not agree with your comments more... like the first one, but maybe a little too country? The yellow is cute but a little too plain. I love the one from Modcloth and I looove the polka dot one (which seems to be your favorite too). I say, go for it.
SUCH cute sundresses! I must go shopping ASAP!
Betsy
I love all of this!
It's all so cute.
Anyway, love your blog...hope you stop by.

I absolutely adore the one from modcloth!
I vote for the Crimson Cobblestone dress - totally hot! If not that one then you have to go with the red with white polka dots!
I love the flower shop dress as well as the red and white polka dot dress. Great finds for a summer wedding.
I think the flower shop is most appropriate for a wedding, but the red polka dot has stolen my heart. I have a crush on the Scarborough Fair, but I think it's a little country; not sure if that's a good or bad thing!
My favourite dress is the top one, but for a wedding - the second one down.
i loved green and red ! i have never seen your kinda wedding. so i have no idea what kinda outfits you use.. red dress is superb.
Eek! I went through this same search a few months ago.
I'm a sucker for sleeves, so I vote for the first one :)
I like the 2nd one but definitely do a different (non matching belt)! Perfect! Feminine, flirty, fun and fierce! :)
all these dresses are so gorgeous, love the 2nd one the best :)
Yeah!! All those dresses are looking so cool... I love to buy dresses from Gap...
