Sunday Shop Update

I hope you're enjoying your weekend!  I've been a busy bee playing and working, but mostly working.  D&OC shop is currently stocked with over a hundred items including lots of new stud earrings, clip ons, and a couple of necklaces that are back in stock.  Here are some of the newest items:
Clip-ons in  Pale Green Khaki, Chocolate Brown, and Light Lime Green.
Round Floral Vintage Long Cameo Earrings
Lady Cameo Cocktail Rings in Carnelian/Ivory and Black/White
As for the "play" part of my weekend, B and I had a little date night last night and went to see Inception.  If you get the opportunity to see it in the theater (Sunday Matinee maybe?), I would definitely recommend it. The visuals are amazing (as is Joseph Gordon-Levitt's face, but shhhh, don't tell B)!

Shop Update

Mondays are SO much better when you don't have to work! Who knew?  I'm technically taking the day off from blogging as well as from my normal job, but I thought I'd pop in to give you a brief shop update. I've added 11 new pairs of bird hairpins to the shop in an array of colors.

I was even feeling slightly patriotic in my styling!  These bad boys are $10 a pair and can be found here.  Hope you had a good weekend and I'll see you back here tomorrow.

Shop Update

Happy Memorial Day!  I wanted to share a few items I've added to the shop despite the dreary weather that put a major damper on my ability to take descent photos.  Mostly, I've been reading and enjoying B's company so I can't say I'm disappointed that I my work on the shop has been minimal.  Here are some of the newest items including a vintage necklace and a few  brooches:
Vintage Triple Heart Gold Bolo Necklace $14.50

Love Birds, a cameo brooch $16

Peach and Ivory Framed Owl Brooch $12

Chrysanthemum Pin Brooch in Violet Purple $8.50

I'll be away the rest of the day enjoying the holiday.  We're thinking about taking advantage of some Memorial Day sales... see you tomorrow!

Sunday Shop Update: Hairpins

I set my sights high this weekend, perhaps a bit too high (surprise, surprise).  I had plans to list new brooches and rings as well as hairpins but after working ALL day on Saturday photographing and listing, I only managed to get around to the hairpins (there were so many!).  I've listed 15 new hairpin duos, each carefully paired.  In the description, I've added "hair color recommendations" since many people question whether or not a particular color would look good in their hair.  Hairpins are available on both silver toned and antique toned bobby pins.

I'm also offering a new deal in the shopwhen you spend over $25, I'll include a free surprise gift.
So what have you been up to this weekend?  I'm off to tackle the piles of laundry I've been neglecting, and by pile, I mean small mountain.  Until tomorrow friends...

Sunday Shop Update (on Monday)

Happy Monday?! As much as it pains me, I had to put my book down this weekend in order to take almost 300 photos of new items and I only managed to list some new stud earrings and necklaces.  I'd like to share some of those with you...
find the same necklace in blush pink here.
I'll be working all week to add new studs and necklaces, and I haven't even touched hairpins, brooches or rings yet.  I enjoyed taking it easy last week after the fair, but it feels good to get back into the swing of things and start focusing on the Etsy shop again. Hope you had a good weekend. Cheers to a new week!

Sunday Shop Update: Painter's Case to Jewelry Display

I hope you've had a great weekend.  As the craft fair draws nearer, I've shifted my focus from creating jewelry to creating displays.  I want to share with you how I've outfitted B's uncle's painters case from the early 1960's to a jewelry display.  The rules for me using this sentimental item inluded no sanding, painting, drilling, decopauging, or doing anything that might permanently change the case.  The case itself is beautiful, telling a story of a painter's toolbox...
I decided to cut fabric to fit the lining of the case and I adhered the fabric using a double sided hem tape which is more secure than normal double sided tape.  This tape is also flexible enough to not rip into the wood.
The cubby holes in the center are perfect for holding brooches, earrings, or hairpins.  I'll be spreading my items out among numerous vintage plates, but I definitely want to utilize this space.
I'll use the top portion of the painter's case to hang some of my necklaces.  I found the perfect sized clothes pins at Michael's yesterday.  This way, people can easily try on the necklaces and place them back if they (sadly) don't want to purchase one.

I am incredibly happy with the results.  The display will add some color and dimension to the overall table.
I've also added three new necklaces to the shop (most of what is pictured here is not in the shop currently).  Here I am wearing one of them:
What do you think?  The fair is in only two weeks and there's still lots to do!  I can't wait to see how the final table comes together.  If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

Sunday Shop Update (on Monday)

I would say that I took the day off yesterday to hunt Easter eggs and do other holiday related things but that would be a lie and have I ever lied to you?  NO.  At least not that I can remember.  This weekend I made a ton of necklaces for the craft fair and I updated my shop with some new items (and yes, those are mini guns and I think they're terribly cute).

You can find all of these items and more in the shop. Remember, readers of D&OC get 10% off by simply putting the word "reader" in the 'notes to seller' during checkout.  This discount will be good through May 1st when the shop closes for the fair. *If you don't leave me a note, I won't know you're a reader.*
So tell me, what did you do this weekend?  Please tell me it was more interesting than mine!

Sunday Shop Update: Craft Fair Preparation

I wanted to give a little update on the craft fair I'll be attending (hopefully) on May first.  To clarify this "hopefully" business, the craft fair is a juried show so not everyone who applies makes it. However, the participants won't be notified until April 10th and if you've ever prepared for a craft fair, you know that this is TOO LITTLE time to prepare, so my partner in crime and I are assuming we're getting in until we're told we're not. Simply put.
Let noone be fooled, preparing for a craft fair takes an enormous amount of preparation and work.  Many of the vintage beads and cameos that I work with come from all over the world so I've had to order early and spend a lot of money so, in the off chance that we're rejected, I'm sure you will hear about it...in a classy way of course!
Putting together a table display that's cohesive and catches the eye is of utmost importance to pull potential buyers in.  I didn't really know what I was doing when I attended my first craft fair and my table display was just OK.  Nothing special.  I'm going to have to step it up a notch so I've been preparing by scouring local thrift and vintage shops.  Here's what I'm working with so far:
Vintage Lace Table Runner via Vintage Keepsakes

Heart Shaped Vintage Milk Glass Bowl via downtown girl vintage

Vintage mirrored vanity via Vintage by Alex Keller

These pieces will accompany some items I already own:
Vintage milk glass bowl bought at a local vintage shop.

ceramic leaf shaped dish via Spicy Vintage

Vintage Jewelry Dish via someone loves dean

A few stands used at the previous show.
Whew, see! I told you there was a lot to think about.
What do you think so far?  Any suggestions?  I hope you're having a happy weekend!

I've also added some new styles to the Etsy shop and as you can probably gather, I've been really into cameos lately.
