There was a shooting in Athens this weekend...it's very tragic and very startling in nature. I heard about it while I was working at the vintage shop on Saturday and I was given very little detail (which was especially frightening because I couldn't reach B on his cell phone and it happened very close to our house). Three people lost their lives at the hands of a successful professor and I'm not sure if, at this point, he's been caught or not. I mention this because Athens is a small town and I'm very saddened that of all the wonderful art and music that comes out of this place, this senseless act is what makes headline national news. I will never be able to understand the reasons people have to hurt each other in such permanent and relentless ways (and I hope I don't ever understand, really). This act has certainly consumed my thoughts and I don't feel it's appropriate for me to continue posting without mentioning it. I served one of the victims regularly at a cafe I used to work at, and honestly, I'm just kind of shaken by the whole incident (even though I did not know her in any real way).
I will be sure to get back to normal posting tomorrow, but for now, I hope you all have had good, restful weekends. I am so thankful for your wonderful comments.
