Sketchbook Project

Good Monday morning!  I hope you had a nice weekend.  I wanted to start of this week telling you about a little project I recently signed up for called the Sketchbook Project.   Here's the skinny:  basically, you pay $25 to receive a moleskin "sketchbook", pick a theme for your sketchbook, and you must fill in said sketchbook and have it postmarked Jan 15, 2011.  The sketchbook has a barcode and the lovely people at Sketchbook project tour the U.S. exhibiting thousands of sketchbooks in numerous cities.

The theme for my sketchbook is "facing forward" and I decided to join the project in an effort to spend some more time with pencil, pens and watercolor and less time on the computer.  I've had many sketchbooks in my time as an art student but since graduating (years ago) I put down the paintbrush to pursue other, less creative things.  I miss getting my hands dirty and I definitely miss drawing.  The goal is to have my sketchbook complete and ready to send out by the deadline.  I'll hopefully share it's progress with you along the way:)  If you'd like to find out more about the Sketchbook project, you can check out the rules here.  The tour is scheduled to come to Atlanta April 8-9, 2011 and hopefully my book will be there!  Remember, it's only $25 to join and I'd love to know if anyone else is participating!
*Deadline to sign up is 10/31/2010.

  5. Christina, this is such a cool project to commit to! It will definately be worth while I am sure. Teaching art classes is the only time I have now to dive into paint and pencils:)

  8. I'd heard about this recently and after seeing it again here, I am so tempted. I suppose the only way to commit is to just take the plunge and go forth, right?

  9. What an amazing project! I'm so excited to see some of your more creative work, although I think your blog and your shop are perfectly creative in their own right. I so admire artistic people and can't wait to follow your progress!
