Orange Crush: Interior Styling

It's Orange Crush time again!  Orange Crush is a monthly collaborative series between D&OC and From the Right Bank where we celebrate all things orange.  Today I'd like to chat about the interior styling of Stella Nicolaisen.  Her use of orange in the below rooms is perfectly balanced with an eclectic modern feel. Not too much but definitely enough to make a statement.

What do you think about these spaces?  For me, they certainly seem to make the use of orange either in wallpaper, a chair, or a rug much more accessible.
If you like orange, you'll love From The Right Bank's collection of orange + turquoise spaces. Do check it out!

  2. i love orange.
i don't think i'll ever grow tired of it.

i think the use of it in the first photo is my favorite. a strip of wallpaper hanging like art on the wall instead of adhered to it with paste, ending in the roll it comes from on the floor... BRILLIANT. i think i'm going to try that, as i rent, and putting up wallpaper the normal way is not an option for me.

  4. I love the use of orange in the first and 3rd pics. Like a bright pop of color. I am partial to orange though - it was one of my wedding colors!

  6. flynn, honestly i don't know what they are (I'm assuming small cushions). sometimes it's hard with stylists photos to see if something is actually functional or if items were placed in a space for the purpose of a good shot. they don't appear functional to me as they look rather small but your guess is as good as mine!

  8. I have never thought "I just love orange". However, after having an orange bedroom I decided it's a great color.

  10. Orange can be fun, and it has to be placed just right.

  11. I like the orange. My kitchen has accents of it all over (linens, aprons, even my salad spinner), and it really makes me happy!

  12. I'm really intrigued by the first photo. Love the hanging wallpaper & not completely done {although I'm not sure I'd go for that in my home lol..but I love it for sure!} and I love the height of the shelf.

  13. I'm not usually a huge fan of orange on it's own, but that first picture is fabulous- I would definitely love a space like that in my house. And the orang and turquiose color combo? Perfection! I love the cheeriness of it.

  17. I've been noticing a trend of orange accessories in my own home. Perhaps due to the fact that it's gender-neutral. I also love those stairs!

  18. I love orange and I think it's a deeply under used colour - maybe because it is quite easy to get it wrong. Not that any of these have.

  19. I would be afraid to sit in the chair in picture two. I'd be worried it would tip over!!!
