Self Petting Dog

I thought I'd share with you one of the many neurotic habits of my self-petting dog (and yes, this is off topic, I know).  This is Kya who often shies away from being petted by people and much prefers petting herself on objects such as table cloths and my future in-laws plant (as witnessed this past weekend).  They say that a dog's personality often reflects that of it's owner but I just don't know how to explain this one.

The Voice Project

I don't post a lot of videos on this blog as I realize that watching them is quite time consuming and the average blog reader spends about 5 seconds on each blog, but if you do have time today, these are definitely worth watching. First posted on Paste Magazine's site, these immediately grabbed my attention and they tell a story of true forgiveness and the power of music in all cultures.

"Home" in Gulu from The Voice Project on Vimeo.

This is the original song by Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. The band performed this song in Uganda after "they raised the money to help the Gulu Widows Group of Uganda start a farm to sustain their community."

Makes you want to get up and dance doesn't it? See the original post here.

Flamenco me crazy

I first saw this video on Glass of Bubbly and I can't get it out of my head. It's by one of my very favorite artists, and the women are absolutely spell binding. They're strong, graceful, gorgeous, and I'm beginning to sound like I'm not straight. Ah, I don't care, I think you'll enjoy this as much I did. It's almost 5 minutes but it's worth the time.
Iron and Wine-"Boy with a Coin"

This makes me proud to be a Latina, but let's just be honest, I'm kind of a sorry excuse for a Puerto Rican- my spanish sucks (I was raised by native speakers), I have no ass (I mean it's there, but it's nothing special), and I can't dance very well (all of my friends agree, but this doesn't stop me). Oh well, I am going to practice my flamenco skills though. I want to BE one of these women.

{I won't have time to announce the Shabby Apple giveaway winner tonight, but I will first thing tomorrow morning! Make sure to enter if you haven't already.}
