Latest Holga photos

I wasn't sure if my Holga 135 survived the smoke damage or not but it seems to have made it out alive. These photos were taken over a span of a few months since I've been rather lazy in documenting our lives on film, as of late. I am rather pleased with the first photo, a double exposure taken at Eno Quarry, my favorite local spot to swim. The individual shots of B and I were taken yesterday (yes, I'm growing out my bangs!) in an effort to finish up the roll and the last photo was taken a couple of months ago at an art/handmade market in downtown Raleigh. The fedora I'm wearing sadly did not make survive the smoke damage. I loved that thing so I'm glad this photo survives.
You can see more photos taken by my trusty little Holga right here including this bizarre double exposure from the art market. Cheers to a new week! I hope yours is wonderful.

Holga + Watson Mill Bridge

I took my Holga out to Watson Mill Bridge this weekend in celebration of Layne's B-day. I had never heard of Watson Mill Bridge State Park before this and I can't believe this little treasure of a place has been so close without me knowing it! The Holga did a good job capturing the laid back feel and beautiful scenery although the lens really has a knack for throwing off proportions and depth of field. I was pleased that it captured the biggest spider EVER (see #6) with some clarity. I think I'm ready to try out some other film cameras and the first on my list is the Popeye toy camera. Why? Because Popeye is awesome. Are any more reasons necessary? I think not.

Happy Weekend!

How was your week?  We survived the snow storm that hit the south (I use "survive" lightly here, but if you've seen Southerns driving in the snow, you'll know what I mean).  The above photos are some I took with my Holga earlier this week when work was cancelled for three days (wahoo!).
B and I are headed to Raleigh, NC tomorrow to visit some of B's friends.  I'm super excited to see this city as I've heard very good things.  If you know of any place we must visit, please let me know!  What are you up to this weekend?

Holga in Texas

After two failed rolls and some minor cursing, I finally have a successful roll from my new Holga.  I decided to bring the camera to Texas because I am NOT a quitter (except for when it comes to Monopoly because that game is simply way too long).  I think B and my sweet nephew Xavier make the perfect models :)
You can check out the rest of the shots on my Flickr page.  Happy New Year y'all!

p.s. I think the use of "y'all" + the calf fry I ate yesterday make me a hard core Texan, don't you think?
p.p.s. If you don't know what calf fries are, look them up.  You'll either be disgusted or have a new found respect for me.
