Happy {Long} Weekend + Some News

  giant dwarf tiny startlette sparkler $8
It's a holiday weekend here in the States and in Canada (Happy Canada Day!) and I couldn't be any more appreciative for an extra long weekend. This week, my husband and I have made it public knowledge that we are moving away from our beloved Athens to Raleigh, NC. If you'll recall, we took a trip to Raleigh recently and fell in love with the city. B and I are in desperate need of a change and since B has completed his Master's Degree we are crossing our fingers and toes that he'll find a teaching job. As for me friends, I have no clue what I'm going to do but I've started applying for jobs with no luck yet. I am trying every day to ward off a giant panic attack as I think about the fact that we will be homeless as of July 31st. That's not to say that B and I will be begging in the streets any time soon or exploiting our dogs by having them perform tricks at the carnival (although, that's doesn't sound like such a bad idea) but, as soon as my current job ends on July 22nd, we will be sans an income. We're taking a big, giant leap of faith that things are going to work out for us and in the meantime, I'll be working with Kya and Bella on their performances. They've been free loading way too long. It's about time those pups earned their keep.

Congrats on the move! We made a similar decision a few years ago when we moved to Colorado. We were in the same situation where we didn't renew our lease and quit our jobs without other ones lined up. It's so scary but I think sometimes you have to take the leap! Good luck!

best of luck with your move. I am sure you will be successful in any avenue you choose to pursue.

For job hunting, if you haven't had a fresh pair of eyes look over your resume/CV, now's the time. Think of changing up the layout and play up your accomplishments. Who best to toot your horn but you!

christina,
do your level best to enjoy the excitement.
that feeling is usually right at the edge of panic, but it's worth it.

i recommend getting rid of everything you don't absolutely love as you pack. buh-bye, clutter... helLO, wonderful new life! {and pack a little every single day}

i'm rooting for you!

p.s. love that starlette hair pin!

Congrats on the move! It's super scary, I know! We just moved across the country and I thought I was crazy at first, walking in and just resigning from my job...whaaaaaat?!? Now I can't believe we have only been here 3 months, it feels like a year already! Before you know it all the stress of the actual move, packing, unpacking, jobs etc will be gone and you will be all settled into your new life. Best of luck! It's an adventure! Change is good :)

Congrats on your big move. It is scary but one thing I do know of you, is you have your stuff together. When the times are uncomfortable, i know you're one to smooth by it with ease it seems. I think you and B's plans will fall into place knowing you ;)
This is an exciting time and how often will you and B be able to ever do something like this? Amazing!

Happy long weekend! You'll be fine, trust me, my husband and I moved from Venezuela to Canada 7 years ago and we had nothing but our suitcases, no job, no connections, first time ever for both of us to travel to Canada and in the end it all went well, keep faith and stay positive! ;)

How exciting! That's a scary decision to make but if it feels right, keep the faith that something wonderful will work out for both of you. I think you'll love Raleigh - I moved to Charlotte from Grand Rapids, MI a couple of years ago and I like it here, but I secretly like Raleigh better. Be sure to check out The Morning Times if you haven't been there yet, it will quickly become your favorite coffee & breakfast spot. Can't wait to hear more news about your move!
