Quirky pendant lamps for your viewing pleasure

It's obvious to anyone who knows me that the strange, odd, quirky, creative, or weird objects in life are those that often grab my undivided attention. I may not choose to buy these extra special objects for my home, but I certainly appreciate and like looking at them. Pendant lamps are an accessory you go as wild with as you please and still maintain a put together, even traditional space. Here are a few pendant lamps that grabbed my attention.

Here's the prayer I would say every night with this pendant lamp over me...
"Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord this pendant to keep,
because if it falls...
I'm going to feel REALLY. STUPID."

This pendant reminds me of a bursting star or a really worn feather duster.

Oh, that's were the extra dog bowls went. Nice!

I wonder if this pendant is made from real twigs?

This bulbous pendant is ethereal and mechanical all at the same time. I wasn't sure that was possible.

I'm not sure if I like this or if I find it really cheesy. Sometimes that line gets blurred for me.

How do you feel about these funky, extra special pendant lamps? Could you incorporate any of these into your space?
{A big thank you for being so supportive with the shop opening. You're the most exquisite readers a girl could ask for!}

That lamp in the first pic is stunning! I'm still dreaming of a vintage sputnik light, but it's out of the budget right now. It was taunting me when I ran across one at my favorite mid-century antique shop during the yard sale last Sunday. I don't see myself spending $475 for a light fixture anytime soon :(

Personally, I love funky pendants. I have this plan for building my own that involves Ikea lights and clear christmas ornaments hung from fishing line . . . Love the first one especially;) Giving me all sorts of ideas . . .

I LOVE the first one! And the wine glass one reminds me of the PB wine bottle one I posted... similar conundrum.

I love the first one! Please, come by when you have a chance. I have a design dilema and I need your help.

shop opening what?!!!!

I'm a bit behind on my blog reading!

I have had that first photo in my inspiration folder...I want that puppy so bad!

the first and last are my favorites. but yes, i'd be adopting your prayer with the first one as well.

and goodness yes it's coming out as a movie! rachel mcadams plays the lead role, so *he* has been referring to it as "the notebook:II." regardless, so excited. clearly. ha.

Love funky pendants. I'm leaning towards cheesy with the last pendant, only because it reminds me of those champagne fountains they have at weddings (well, upside down of course).

If my husband and I didn't live in an apartment, we'd have one hanging above our dining table!

so brilliant!
The 1st photo would not be ideal for earthquake location though...hee*

I absolutely LOVE these...my dog would go wild if he saw me take his dog bowl and hang it on the ceiling...such a tease!!

I love strange light fixtures Christina! Have you ever seen the small fire hazard Fractal Chandelier? It's one of my favorites, it's what cheap people do when they want strange and pretty in their homes. : )

i like the first one the best! and i think i could make the "bulbous" one work, too. but don't make me hang them. eke. that is where we would have a problem.

Don't think the hubby would go for any of these - Mr. Design likes clean and elegant!

Haha! Your prayer cracked me up! =D

I saved quite a few of these photos to my favorites! Gorgeous rooms!

The "twiggy" pendant looks like an IKEA pendant with twigs on it... hmmm. I think I like the look.

PS: The line sometimes gets blurry for me too when I try to figure out if I like something or ifs its really cheesy,

but, I do love the wine glasses! Practical meets pretty...in a good way (thats what I think, at least....)

The bursting star reminds me of G-girl's dining room in My Super Ex-Girlfriend! (I sound like a nerd, huh?) And I left you an award on my blog!

Beautiful collection! The ochre pendant lamp is amazing! The wine glass chandelier is so cute :)

The wine glass chandelier is great, would love to have it hanging in my dining room.

You have such fabulous taste! Loving your finds and how lucky you are to have a capiz light in your bathroom! So utterly jealous.

That top circular chandelier has been a favorite of mine lately, and ...no, not over the bed.
But, that bubble burst in the blue kitchen is like "Bam"...and is perfectly suited for that setting.

I really dig the second to last one. Would love to have that in my kitchen!

Ooh, I like that top one! Does the large rectangle hanging capiz pendant from West Elm count as quirky or creative? I am seriously considering it for the dining area. :)

hmmm i love that twig one, maybe the wine glasses one is a teensy bit cheesy, unless it was MASSIVE and then that would look cool!

Haha, my mom bought something similar to the last one for our formal living room. I love it.

Oh, how fun! Love the one in bedroom--the perfect hint of glamorous to an otherwise casual room. Hope you are feeling better and enjoy your weekend!

love it. i'm looking for a cool on for my dining room.

I love the first one - absolutely perfect, but dog bowls and wine glasses as light fixtures not for me! Have an awesome weekend!

I would definitely be afraid to sleep under that first one. But in another room, I'd take it! I also like the one with branches - it's goofy and pretty at the same time.

I would definitely work the heck out of these enormous light baubles. I love the drippy chandeliery kind made out of lace cutouts. Super cool. And if it dropped on my head, I wouldn't pop my clogs. Bonus!

Sanity Fair said...

That first one is my favorite - it's rare that anyone makes a bare lightbulb look nice. That arrangement looks like an enormous crystal brooch.

indigotangerine said...

the first one is incredibly beautiful. It reminds me of a dressing room mirror back stage. I saw a lamp once that was made out of thick glass jars. It was incredibly cool.
