B and I are really trying to get creative with a way of organizing a potential workspace for my crafts and his illustrations. You'd be appalled to see how we work now, but everything creative is happening in our kitchen table and it gets a little overwhelming. Plus, last night I picked up a bottle of glue thinking it was my drink, I COULD HAVE DIED!!! Ok, that might a tad bit dramatic, but still, we need a better space to work. Since our modest home won't be growing a craft room anytime soon, we're going to have figure something else out. Until then, here's some studio/craft room/workspace inspriation.
A cheery, energizing color on the walls to help the creative juices flow.

Lots, and lots of shelving is definitely a must.

I could make this space into a mess in about 5 minutes flat. I like the idea of thin drawers, perfect for decorative paper.

My style of work, whether it be making jewelry or painting, is to move around the object. A center table is definitely ideal for this.

This lovely space has made it's rounds in the blogosphere and for good reason! It's pretty stinking ideal.

Ribbon spools are so much easier to work with when they're organized. I'd like a station much like this one for packaging.

Lots of baskets, jars, and canisters help to keep a space organized and as clutter free as possible.

I may have to use a corner in my bedroom and divide it off with some shelves.

Do you have an ideal studio or craft room? What would your space be like?

These are so cool! I love seeing others work spaces/studios. I love my room, it's where I run away from the world.:)
There is a great book/magazine called "Where Women Create" it will make you drool.
Happy Monday sweetie!
xoxo
These are amazing! I love the bright white room with the jean chair! Also the two after that...gorgeous.
I dream of a pretty work space! My fave of your pics is the room with the ribbon spools... how perfect that would be!
Oh, this makes me thing of the possibilities for our new space next month!!!!
Great post! I love that ribbon and container idea. I spent Friday night trying to reorganize my craft area to make it more functionable. Exciting I know... :) I often use recycled jars and cover old cans with pretty paper for craft containers.
Wouldn't it be great if we could grow an extra room?! I'm lucky to have a studio space but I need it to get it together and make it more pleasing to the eye like these. I wish we could grow some extra time while we're at it!
We're trying to figure out what to do with our "sunroom nook" right now...
Want to come over and help?! ;-)
Love love love looking at other's creative spaces!
love the orange one! such fun colors!
I'm really into the all-white thing right now. I wish i could be more organized. {sigh}
These spaces are all so wonderful. Thanks for the inspiration! I've been planning my office/craft/work space for some time and these are some great ideas :)
i would pretty much KILL to have a little studio or office space like these! right now it is all crammed on a desk (in the bedroom! HORRORS!) and/or on the kitchen table. fah. i wish for more space, but could sure try harder to make it all work. these pics are rather inspiring!
I'm all for a bright cheery color on the walls. Our guest room/office is the most pitiful shade of yellowing brown right now. I don't even know how to describe it. Hence, why I blog in the kitchen!
These were great pictures. I especially liked the one from ish and chi, although the one with the orange walls is fabulous. I keep meaning to post a picture of my sewing room, which started life as our living room, aka "the room where no one lives." But it's kinda messy right now. So maybe later. When I get it more organized. Like that will actually happen...
I work just like you and B do - on the kitchen table. We have a third bedroom that is set up as an office (and is supposed to be a studio for my craft projects), but it's so disorganized and filled with my boxes of Etsy stuff that it's not very usable right now. After we finish painting our kitchen, the office is my next goal. Thanks for the inspiration! These spaces are awesome!
I love the third image and would go for it in my space. I like a really clean palette so I can clearly see what I am doing when designing.
I drool over dedicated work/craft spaces too. We recently converted a closet into my workspace, and I really don't know what I did before I had it. It's wonderful, and it's just a nook. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I had a whole room.
I LOVE those! I wish my space looked like that. My ideal space has tons of shelves and a large window.
I am in the same boat as you. I have had to make-do with a corner of our apartment living room and I end up in the kitchen half the time... there are some great space saving ideas in your post pics - thank you!
I want to be THIS organized!! You should check out the magazine Where Women Create, it is at the website for the company I work for, www.stampington.com. It features all sorts of different studio ideas, I think you would love it. Anyway, I love all of the colorful bins and baskets to organize, so colorful but organized at the same time!
lol @ the dramatization...
and no..i work off of my GLASS dining room table and kitchen counter.
my space would be hot pink with white shag carpeting, black chandelier, plush leather couches...glam, luxe and chicness..yes, chicness all over!
thanks for the support on my new endeavor, love!
I love all of them. Good luck with the organization...

lol I've done the same thing with dirty paintbrush water & grapefruit juice -- if I'm painting with pink that water looks the same color as the juice! A mishap could easily occur..
I recently re-did my workspace -- I turned my bedroom into a bedroom/studio/office and it's working perfectly :)
I am obsessed with cute organization prodcuts, and seeing ways to organize what could easily become a messy space. Love these examples!
Oh how I love all of these inspiring work spaces... I am in the process of organizing a place for me too! So much to do :)
Hope you didn't drink the glue!!!

I wish.
We don't even have a dining room table to work from.
I always dream about what my workspace/creative space will look like when I am older and have my own home. I know I want it to be bright and airy, with organization compartments and an inspiration wall. I cannot wait :)
Any of these spaces would be heaven! My Boyfriend and I share an office and I draw on the dinning room table!! EEEkkk! Oh for a ten bedroom mansion!!
great blog! love the denim chair, how creative!

yeah, my stuff gets out of control!! My guest room is also my office so I need to keep it clean if I have guests arriving but right now it looks as if a tornado hit it!!!
Great finds! My stuff gets out of control as well, and though I have space for various projects, I can never decide which area is the right space. Or, I do everything in the great room because that's where hubby is. :-) But, shelves (and coordianted boxes) are definitely your friend!
That denim-jeans detail on the back of the chair is brilliant! Fab new week Christina!! ~xo*
It's always so interesting to see where creativity takes place :0) Lovely settings.
My ideal workspace? A place with a comfy chair, somewhere to put my legs up, and lots of storage space! Oh, and a gorgeous view wouldn't hurt :)
really like the ish and chi space. it must be absolutly brilliant to have a space for creativity!xxx
me love the Crafty Intentions the most cos i like to dump things and not to have do too much sorting out. yeah, sounds like chaos so such crafty ideas would eventually lost on me. hope you work something out soon. a friend's parents do much of their tailoring work in the kitchen as well.
Oooh, the ribbon stool is awesome. I'm envious of anyone who has a great open space with tons of shelving.
Thank you so much for featuring my studio amongst these photos!
I didn't have room in the house either and was working mainly on the dining table but also on the floor, in the kitchen etc. Now my craft space is in the garage but I have more room to stretch and make a big mess.. hehe. I hope you are able to find a creative space for yourself too xx
