Do it myself chairs

Remember how I was thinking about painting my kitchen chairs to look something like this? They're finally finished after a bit of labor and some nightmares. Don't get your hopes up for anything exciting and keep in mind that I am very NEW at DIY projects so we're working with some basic stuff here.
This is what the chairs looked before, except that I had green seat cushions on them.
Our first step was to sand. Here's B on his designated chair (for the record I tend to be a competitive person so we had designated chairs for a reason and no, I am not proud of this).
Sanding these chairs proved to be a bit more difficult (and time consuming) than the coffee table. My bicep received a little workout so I can't complain.
We decided to the paint the chairs a light, cucumber green which was left over from our bathroom.
We haven't painted the kitchen table and we after some discussion I think we might leave it as is.
We used to have a striped green table cloth but it doesn't work with the chairs. With some fun place mats, I think it'll be fine.
Plus, I really like the contrast of the table vs. the chairs.
Don't fresh flowers make everything better?
{all images via me, myself, and I}
We completed another little project I want to show you tomorrow. If you get tired of the DIY photos, just let me know, but I have to admit I'm having fun re-vamping things I already own. Are you working on any projects?

wish i had fun projects such as this- just cleaning out closets i'm afraid. i love the color you have chosen and i agree, the contrast does give it interest but i would give some thought to painting the table too. the color is just so lovely. o.k. just tell me to shut up now.

Wow. It's amazing what a little paint (and a lot of sanding) can do. They look great.

Keep the DIY's coming. I love DIY stuff.

Love it! Sanding really is a pain in the butt, or maybe just in the arm. But it's always the part I dread the most. Definitely keep the diy photos coming. You're what inspired me to get back out in the garage and finish the little flea market table I found. Hopefully it will be done this week!

I love the way your chairs turned out! They do make a nice contrast with the table. Often think of DIY projects, sometimes I'll go as far as buying supplies but I rarely follow through. Though I do have this tart recipe I've been meaning to try, so maybe this weekend. Does cooking count as a DIY? :)

What a fun project!! Love seeing what people are doing. Great color too. Currently, I'm making buttons, finishing a little bear, making some jewelry and just picked out some fabric tonight for a chair I plan on re-doing {once I figure out how to do it...}.

I am on a mission of redesigning my front porch and back yard, including a veggie garden and pots of mums. but that doesnt' really count as DIY, right...

Love the color! I know what work sanding can be... that why I'm so excited that my mother-in-law is sanding painting/staining our dining room table and 6 chairs!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! It's a pass-down from the hubs' grandparents. There's a china hutch that matches it too that will sooon be ours, and the mother-in-law is painting that too!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm too lucky - otherwise, where would we find the time to do it ourselves?!?!
