Happy Weekend

arian behzadi (via all the mountains)
Happy Friday! Have you had a good week? B and I have been very busy. He's getting ready to finish up his masters' program in May (yay!) and there's still so much to do before he graduates. As for me, I don't know if you've noticed or not, but I've been really trying to work on my photoshop skills (which were completely non existent two weeks ago). Thanks to the internet and tutorials from bloggers like this, I'm slowly teaching myself. There's a lot to learn though!

Any fun plans this weekend? I'm currently reading Total Money Makeover and I'm feeling excited and challenged to take control of our finances and tackle the mounds of student loans we're about to be in. One of the quotes that sticks with me from the beginning of the book is, "we buy things we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't like." Ouch and true, no?! Since B has been in graduate school, we've been living off of my salary and student loans. We're about to have to get very serious about our financial future. If you've read Total Money Makeover, I'd love to know your thoughts. Have a healthy and happy weekend friends. xo

I am so horrible with money. It's not that I spend a crazy amount, but I buy a bunch of little stuff (coffee every day, cadbury eggs, sparkling water at the gas station, etc.) that adds up and I have never kept any semblance of a budget. I really gotta get with the program. My mama sent me a book about money (by the famous money guy; can't remember his name) and I have left it collecting dust cause I find money stuff so boring, but I think it's about time I pick it up, cause I'm almost 30 and have no savings or retirement. Geez.

I had a great week :) And today was such a successful day for me...I am so ready for a relaxing weekend now!

Ha, that quote just about sums it all up!

Good work on the photoshop! I'm starting to teach myself as well, and it can seem so overwhelming! In regards to budgeting/finance, I have had great luck with mint.com in managing my money/finances. I am about to start grad school this fall, and need to get my savings in order before school starts.

Amazing art!

Haven't read that one but am reading Gail Vaz-Oxlade's Debt Free Forever - she's fantastic, quite tough love but really fair and straightforward about everything!
