Reminiscing Pink

A couple years ago my friend and I moved in together (KT, if you're reading this, I am talking about you) and we had the BRIGHT idea of painting our teeny tiny bathroom a bold pink/magenta.  I wanted our home to be a bachlor-ette pad and what better way to claim your womanly territory than paint s*** pink?  We had to paint a gazillion layers of this lipstick pink color to get an even finish and I think we were both tired of our senses being assaulted by the obnoxious, electrifying color after about a week.  Needless to say, when KT moved out and B moved in, the pink was even less appreciated (although I found his distaste for it amusing...shhhhh).  As you know, the grass is always greener on the other side and I kind of miss that pink bathroom.
I wonder if B would let me paint our clawfoot bathtub pink?  Ok, I'm not that dumb, I know that would never happen if B had PRIOR knowledge of my plan.

These shots are a only a few of a house tour recently presented by Design*Sponge.  Pink isn't the only bold color used in photographer Corbin Gurkin's home.  I always enjoy a person's bold use of color.  Check out the rest of the house here.
Have you ever had a pink room?  I'm not talking baby, light-pink, could be white pink, barely there-why'd you even bother to paint it pink kind of pink. I'm talking about the real deal.  So have you? Could you?
{p.s. I hope April Fool Day treats you well and you don't get sucked into believing something ridiculous.  I'm very gullible so, as a general rule of thumb, I'm taking everything today with a grain of salt.  Everything. Don't. Even. Try. It.}

Yes. But that was the one room that I didn't spill paint all over myself! Remember when I stepped, barefoot, into the tray of mauve-ish paint we put in the living room? And we didn't yet have running water? So I had to scrape it out of my toe creases for weeks!

I don't think you can really explain how tiny that bathroom was. And pink it WAS. It was a good idea...in theory. But the result was a little offensive in the morning before coffee, knowwhatimean?

Growing up, my bedroom was pink and I loved it. I always believed (for some reason) that it's the most flattering color, so I'd totally be down with having it all over my house someday. When I actually get a house, that is.

Oh, I think the bathroom is a perfect place to go bold! I'm partial to dark red in bathrooms, though I can go for emerald green or deep blue, too (and pink, absolutely!). I want to do a pink room, think it's going to be the guest bedroom. Great pics!

In college I painted my room a bright bubblegum pink - our townhouse was previously occupied by boys and one of the walls in my room was a giant Texas flag - and since I'm from Oklahoma, I wasn't too appreciative. A guy friend helped me, and the whole time he was muttering, I can't believe I'm painting a room pink. I LOVED that room! Perhaps I should really break out the pink in my new house...hmm. :)

I never had a pink room. the closest bold color I have is purple. I painted the powder room this color and everyone loves it. but being the only woman at home I'm still lusting for pink... some day I will paint something pink... I swear... but shhh don't tell... xo

katie- definitely the most hilarious, clumsy painting experience i've ever had! not only did you step in the paint but when we were on the ladder paining my old bedroom, the whole paint tray fell on the floor!!! good times.

I think you mean the whole tray of paint fell down the front of me...it did eventually get to the floor. Good thing paint no longer contains lead. I don't think I would have made it out of that house-painting experience alive otherwise.

I still have the cutoff jean shorts I wore when we painted that house. They are deeeesgusting. But I wear them in the summer if I want to look particularly white-trash.

I'm the idiot that thought that Google had actually changed their name to Topeka. Go figure.

I'm not a big fan of pink. The closest I came was lavender and plum in my old studio but I had to paint a neutral color over it when we put our house on the market. I was not happy!

A striking pink wall reminds me of The Tenenbaums home in The Royal Tenenbaums. Lovely!
