Interiors: Bold Pattern Combinations

Happy Monday (please pass the coffee)!  I'm attempting to get past my drowsy Monday morning stupor with some bold interiors.  Mixing and matching patterns doesn't have to be cumbersome but it's certainly not careless either.  I've picked some fresh interiors that illustrate the idea that anything goes when it comes to pattern, as long as there's some unifying theme that points towards a harmonious eclecticism as opposed to a lazy disjointedness.  I suppose what I'm trying to say is, don't be fooled into thinking that mixing and matching pattern is easy.  It's supposed to look easy,  and therein lies the difference.

My favorite pattern combo is definitely floral and stripes.  When B and were settling into our new rental, he was very cautious about my love of pattern.  I suppose you could say he was the restraint that forced me to not put pattern on every surface of our home.  We're still trying to find a happy medium.  Do you have a favorite pattern combo?  Do you embrace this type of mixing or do you prefer something a bit calmer and more unified?

Thank you for that! I love the look of mixed patterns, but just can not do it. Maybe I'll give it a go now ;)

I so agree with you! I love to mix it all up a bit....sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't ;)
Love all of these rooms.

The combination of prints in the Selina Lake image is brilliant. Showcases how tints and hues of one colour can always go together, even with a variety of patterns. Love it!

#4 is PERFECTO!!! i love it to DEATH!!! i probably love it because of the windows and the overall fun green effect (affect? damn this language). regardless of the reason, it speaks to me in all the right ways!

and the pattern mixing is a bit trickier than some think. have you ever seen betsy johnson's house. HORRORS. it is like a pattern explosion times a million, and in so many intense shades. it is very HER, but too much for me. but then again, we all get to find the right balance, and that is pretty cool. :)

I'm scared of mixing patterns but these must have been done by pro's. I'd love to see your take on it!

You could pretty much insert me into the last photo. It's completely my style. Love, love patterns (and as B, it scared my Mister! But, he's getting used to it now.) :)
