I wanted to give a little update on the craft fair I'll be attending (hopefully) on May first. To clarify this "hopefully" business, the craft fair is a juried show so not everyone who applies makes it. However, the participants won't be notified until April 10th and if you've ever prepared for a craft fair, you know that this is TOO LITTLE time to prepare, so my partner in crime and I are assuming we're getting in until we're told we're not. Simply put.
Let noone be fooled, preparing for a craft fair takes an enormous amount of preparation and work. Many of the vintage beads and cameos that I work with come from all over the world so I've had to order early and spend a lot of money so, in the off chance that we're rejected, I'm sure you will hear about it...in a classy way of course!
Putting together a table display that's cohesive and catches the eye is of utmost importance to pull potential buyers in. I didn't really know what I was doing when I attended my first craft fair and my table display was just OK. Nothing special. I'm going to have to step it up a notch so I've been preparing by scouring local thrift and vintage shops. Here's what I'm working with so far:
Vintage Lace Table Runner via Vintage Keepsakes
Heart Shaped Vintage Milk Glass Bowl via downtown girl vintage
Vintage mirrored vanity via Vintage by Alex Keller
These pieces will accompany some items I already own:
Vintage milk glass bowl bought at a local vintage shop.
ceramic leaf shaped dish via Spicy Vintage
Vintage Jewelry Dish via someone loves dean
A few stands used at the previous show.
Whew, see! I told you there was a lot to think about.
What do you think so far? Any suggestions? I hope you're having a happy weekend!

I love the mirrored vanity...
i love the idea of using a milk glass bowl for rings and earrings. Perfect!!!!
best of luck Christina! I love the necklace stands!
Every thing you have selected is CLASSY! And I guarantee you will be chosen ~ what a fun show to participate in!
BTW, I LOVE the lace runners. If you ever wish to sell them, look no further, I'm happy to reuse/recycle those lovelies!
I think you have a lovely aesthetic going on with your feminine vintage items. I must say though, that the last photo from your previous show stood out to me because of the spring pastels jumping out at me. I'd definitely try to work in spring colors with what you have so far. Good luck!
You are going to rock your juried show! Good luck, Penelope.
The last craft show that I did, I used old shutters to house earrings. If you turn them around backwards, the slats slant out at the top, and you can hang the earrings directly, or you can hang the plastic from them. It worked out well, and since they were tall, it saved valuable table space!
Good luck!
everything is so lovely! thanks for sharing this with us. so so pretty!

Looks lovely! And adore that mirrored vanity tray.
Looks gorgeous! Good luck getting into the show :D
I also have a (local) show on 5/1! I wish you great luck!
I am also using thrifty vintage items for displays... mostly because the first time I did a show, I wanted to use things I already owned. It fits with the whole aesthetic I have too, since nearly all of my jewelry is made of repurposed vintage elements.
Cake plates, trays, teacups and vintage linens make you stand out from the black-velvet display crowd, for certain!
you'll get in! and sell lots! let me know when you get the tray!
I can't tell you how lucky I was (and thankful) to have won your earrings and ring! I keep putting them on, they are my new favorite piece of jewelry (so perfect for spring!)
oh, i hope hope HOPE you get in! and how i would love to attend! WAH!!! i wish i could!
I totally understand the amount of work that goes into displays and shows, phew it is tiring! And, like you I must order things from round the world so I have to be prepared well ahead of time.
My art fair (one at the end of april and the other in July) are both juried as well, so like you my fingers are crossed that I make it in - so I am sending many good lucks your way!
well i definitely think you deserve to make it and can't wait to see how you put everything together... looks gorgeous so far!
It all looks so pretty! I hope you get in, Have a sweet day!
Good luck, girlie! Those juried shows can be nail-biting. Your displays are always so beautiful!
The details count and it looks like you have them all down! Everything looks great!
