Large family portraits as decor doesn't always work, but in these cases, I think they're perfect.

I'm not sure B wants to see my giant mug any more than he has to, but I wouldn't mind a large portrait of the dogs or if I had children. Do you like the look of over sized portraits on the wall?

I'm kinda liking the baby pic, as long as it's their baby ! I have a painting of my furbaby.
huh. i'm not normally a fan of huge photographed portraits - if it's a big portrait, i really liked painted ones. but these portraits work so well! they're great focal points and personalize the room well!
These portraits work and aren't nauseating because they are more artistically done. If they were the cheesy "look off into the distance" with a soft focus then I could see how it would just be a hot mess!

i don't mind these portraits. But at work there are these very large face shots of a mother, father and son each shot individually. The story behind is sad and I can't look at them, they bring much sadness to me when I look at them so I avoid that part of the floor so I don't have to see the.
I would love a large portrait of sassy my pup!!

We're seeing this trend all over these days, aren't we? I actually quite like it when it's done right (like these examples) especially in that first photo: adoreable.
I love these! I'm not a fan of small family pictures in the "public" rooms of a home but this is one way portraits can work. Especially in b & w or if the image is spectacular or whimsical.
I love portraits, especially antique paintings, but I'm not into large pictures of the family. Is that weird?

I'm not sure I like portraits THIS big. In our living room, we have a grouping of 4 family shots (each with myself, the hubby and both boys) in a row. The photos are black & white, in square Pottery Barn (matching) frames, and while they were taken by a professional photographer, are not "posed" per se and are more candid/natural shots. In fact, in one shot we're looking pretty goofy! While the grouping is definitely a focus on the wall, we were just commenting the other night that it's stood the test of time, having been up there for almost 6 years now.
i am not too sure about large sized baby/family pics as a main attraction in a social area like living rooms.

I like the baby one. I think they'd look great in black and white! A little more artsy that way.
we have a huge photo of our wedding pic and it's so awkward walking by it, we are thinking of taking it down. if it was something fun like turned into a warhol-ish portrait, it'd be cool but i know what you mean
