Interior Inspiration: Annie Schlechter

Happy Monday!? I hope you had a lovely V-day. B and I were very productive getting our house clean so I'd say it went pretty well :)
I first ran across Annie Schlecter's photography at Real Simple, but her work has been seen in many places including Domino, House Beautiful, Target, and W Magazine.
I've always been impressed with a photographer's ability to shoot interiors seeing as how trying to photograph my own home causes extreme anxiety leading to acid reflux and avoidance (i.e. it never gets done). Although you're probably familiar with Schlecter's work, I thought I'd post some of the images I find fresh and currently inspiring.

The thing I like about these spaces are that they could be anybody's home. They look lived in and not stuffy or pretentious. What do you think? Do you agree that these spaces kind of remind you of "home"?

you are so right! these places could belong to anybody! they look fab and not too DONE! i mean that in a good way. sometimes designers wave their wants and things look too FUSSY. these places look fab!

I love her work, and yeah, the rooms are beautiful and not over stylized. I adore the blue bedroom and the living room covered in various framed pieces. That's one of the things I've always wanted to do but never feel quite bold enough to go through with.

Wishes for a wonderful new week dear Christina!

OMG, I love those walls of art. I want to try that and I think I might. Didn't realize Real Simple had some lovely interiors, either. I will check them out!

You're so right about trying to photograph your own home. It never comes out as we see it. I think I'm gonna try the pictures behind the sofa idea. A tried and true oldie but I'd forgotten about it! I like it better than just hanging one or two large pics/mirrors.

I agree that they are very homey. Very stylish, but homey. And I totally agree that it is so hard to photograph a home!

oh yes, I absolutely love these rooms - not too fussy, just right! and I agree with you, any photo of my house gets deleted eventually because I just can't make it look good in the photo, so it truly is a hard skill to come by!

Yes, they do look home-y.

You crack me up about trying to photograph your own place. I know the feeling - especially if it's a small place and you have to stand out in the hallway to get a wide enough angle for a picture.

I just got my second issue of House Beautiful and you can totally tell a difference! I love a clean home but not one where I feel I can't sit down on!
