Interior Style: India

When I think about typical Indian inspired decor, I see rich textiles, patterns, jewel toned color, and gilded everything. To a minimalist, this rich style can seem overwhelming and busy, but to a color and pattern lover like myself, it can be the holy grail for inspiration.

I adore that pink rug in the last photo, but I know floor cushions would instantly become dog beds. What do you think about this rich style? Too much, or just enough?

The last one is great, if they would just get rid of the decorations on top of the book shelf. :)

I don't think minimalism is at odds with rich Indian decor. As long as it's not over the top, with stuff dripping from every ceiling, and takes elements of rich fabrics and colours into consideration instead.

Just enough, in my opinion! :) We just watched Bend it like Beckam last night--very modern Indian! I love the beautiful colors and patterns!

Haha, I hear you on the instant dog (in my case cat) beds! Love that pink carpet though and the dressing area in the photo above that--divine!

I think it's a beautiful style, and in small bits could even be introduced into a modern home. Those brights look fantastic against white walls. And like you, I'm in love with that pink rug in the last photo. My dogs would destroy it in a few months with their little toenails. Alas, big dogs + good rugs don't mix.

I dig it. But up to this point I've only embraced it in its neutral version (black, white, grey and silver.)

I love the colors but in bits and pieces. The culture alone is so vibrant with colors everywhere but I'm so used to my blah stark white rooms.
