In fourth grade, my teacher (who happened to be my favorite in Elementary school) came up to me and, because I was wearing a red sweater that day, said, "Oh Christina, red IS your color. Remember that. Red is your color."
I haven't forgotten the words of this kind woman, but I have ignored her advice for some time. Occasionally though, I'll wear something red and receive echos of that first affirmation: red is my color.
In case you're shy about the color red, you need not be. Once you put it on, whether it be as an accessory, a slinky red dress, or bold red lipstick you transform into something sexier, classier, and more confident. Or not.
I've gathered some inspirational images as well as some affordable products to get us in the mood...

We all have a color. It doesn't have to be our favorite, but it's the one that compliments our skin and hair and the one that essentially makes you come "alive" to those who see you.
Mt fourth grade teacher prophesied early about what mine would be and she was right.
I'd love to know...what's your color?

we are thinking alike these days :)

Lurrrve them...makes me want to get a red long opera gloves!
xo*
Nice photos. I like red, but i own no red clothes currently...after i worked at Target I just started seeing red as a uniform colour...HAHAHA!
LOL and your comments on Laura's blog too. LOVE these- especially the rain boots. On any rainy day, you need some red brightness!
Red is totally my color too! Love this!
Red is such a beautiful colour, but not mine. I think my colour is dark blue or green. :)
xx
Red used to be my anti-color. I hated it. But now its slowly growing on me. I won't wear an all red dress just yet but red shoes, red hats, red scarves, basically red accessories are all good.
I've always been told teale or turquoise was my color. I personally say cobalt blue.
Hot! Red is definitely my color, too. It has been since I was a small child. I remember a kindergarten poll of all the kids' favorite colors. I was surprised that all the girls chose pink, which I viewed as a watered-down version of bright, juicy, electric RED.
Vivid, true red colors tend to flatter most skin tones, especially in dreary winter. I'll be rocking a brilliant, Valentino-esque red wool coat in the snow this season. :)
Red is totally fab; I wore red tights the other day and got so many compliments, and my red matte lipstick makes me feel like Rita Hayworth;) My color, however, is peacock blue.
Red isn't my colour really but despite this I have a massive penchant for red lips and nails!
oh you read my mind!
we are leaving for paris tomorrow and i was searching for some chic rain boots... sadly, they are hard to find in arizona. but those little red numbers would have been perfect!
red is definitely your color my dear. gorgeous!
I LOVE this post! My favorite color has been red since I can remember.
ACK! I hate to even say this, but I used to seriously have a thing against red, for me personally. However, now I am more then happy with a splash of red, especially during the holidays. Generally a deep red, is a better fit for me then a bright red, but I love to see bright red on others. There is just something so bold and strong behind it; and I can exactly see red being your color. For me, when adding a bit of color I tend to go with a good purple, blue or green. Still, black is "my" color ha. ;)
LOVE the rainboots! and pink is my color :)
Red would look amazing on you, I'm positive! Someone once said that I look nice in a watermelony color. I'm not quite sure, though!
Green! Every single time I wear it, someone comments (in a good way)...
great photos. makes me want to run out and buy a red dress. my color is emerald green. fun, but definitely not as striking as red.
I've been told red is my color as well! I don't wear it nearly enough. I love red. I'm usually sporting black, grey or white though. I should really put more color in my wardrobe!
love the boots and the girls in the glasses.
i look great in a jewel toned purple, and mint green.
Oh how I love Red and so wish I could wear it--fortunately I can occasionally pull it off on my lips. My color is definitely turquoise--makes me feel instantly refreshed.
Deep, dark purple for the win. ;-)
love the boots and the dresses!
oh yeah, red is a bold and great color!! and it takes courage to wear that color!!
xx
red is gorgeous! and you are so lucky that it is your color! i tend to shy away from wearing it, but maybe i should try it every now and then!
i wish i looked better in red! my husband loves when i wear it, but i'm just not convinced :)
It takes a confident woman to pull off red!
sexy!
I don't know my color. I need a teacher to tell me.
i just blogged something a bit related to colours. i'd say it's orange. not the same as red but there's a bit of red in it. there's a link in my post that's about colours and sexuality, in case you're interested.
I love red, and I have maaaaany clothes in this colour but I don't think is MY colour... I receive amazing compliments when I wear yellow, wich I dont wear that often... however personally I see myself shinning in GREEN!!! :O)
hmmm...well, I've always loved dark purple/violet. it's the color that looks best on me and makes me feel good. when I was a kid I had a red dress that I wanted to wear to school every single day. sigh...
I'd say black (yes, I know that's not really a color), but people always tell me I look good in hot pink or magenta (a color that is tough to pull off because let's face it, most hot pink is downright tacky). Love these red shots. The red toque and lipstick look amazing!
I totally agree with you on this. I think red is my color, too. i think it's our dark hair, and palish-olive skin?? I don't know but that combo makes it look fierce.
