Hazy Moments

These photographs remind me of the early morning hours, when I first wake up.

In those first few minutes of consciousness I am at my most sensitive, my most vulnerable, and although things are hazy, I see clearly right where I am in this world.

In the best of times, I am at the most hopeful I will feel that day; sometimes I even wake giddy, wondering what newness this day will break.

I remember being in my darkest moments and dreading waking up, only to feel heavy with despair.

However you felt this morning, either hopeful and happy, or dreadfully sad and lonesome, I hope you achieve balance today, in some small way.

What a coincidence that I should read this post now. That's exactly how I feel this morning! :)

Great post, Christina! I love the photographs! My mornings usually start with my little one waking me up almost every day at 5 AM. In the beginning he is usually very gentle, he usually puts his little hand on my face to wake me up, but I have to jump out of the bed immediately to bring him some cocoa because otherwise he starts crying and wakes up his brother.. and then we end up sitting on the sofa and watching Bob the builder at 5 AM. But I have to admit I somehow enjoy it because that is the only time when we can be together :-)

These photos are fantastic, and this morning I woke up to complete fog outside my windows, how ironic!

Love this post! Photos are perfect accompaniment to your words and give a very romanticized image of waking. Sadly, I am generally just clumsy in the morning. :-)

ha im not sure i could handle the white-hazy mornings... it would take my eyes a few to adjust. perhaps i should stick with the darker gray-with-some-pinks-and-purples-sneaking-in haze.

but really, beautiful photos. i love how clean and fresh they look/feel

I wish I can wake up to images like this, however this is not the case. It's more like falling over and trying to not accidentally step on my kitten and struggling to find my glasses. Not pretty like this. No bueno.

Beautiful photographs! They make me want to go take a nap in my cozy bed though!

Christina, this is so beautiful! Today was one of those mornings that it was tough to get out of bed. And I haven't done much more with my day since then. Perhaps rather than feeling guilty about being unproductive today, I should instead embrace the afternoon, watch a chick-flick, take a nap, call it a "sick day", and just work a long day tomorrow. See how you inspire me?

Very pretty photos. I know what you mean about that early morning struggle to shower, dress etc - it can feel so empty and lonesome. I always feel chirpier when I get to work (mostly!) - it's just that first bit!
