New series: Orange Crush

Hello dearest readers and welcome to the first edition of "Orange Crush" a collaborative series between myself and the interior guru Alek of From the Right Bank to the Left Coast.
As I'm sure you can already tell, this series is about all things orange and I couldn't have a better partner in crime. Our shared desire is to discerningly discuss the best side of orange, an often neglected and overlooked color. Monthly, Alek and I will kindly press upon you- our favorite readers - the challenge of using orange in a fresh, stylish, and uncomplicated manner. Our hope is, that if you aren't already an orange advocate, that you'll at least grow a certain fondness for this special color.
~
I know that many of you, if not the majority of you reading this blog, have trouble wearing orange...I know I do. Being in the south, I don't want to mistakenly be taken for a Tennessee fan, a fashion misstep in and of itself (sorry Tennessee fans, just saying). I've collected a few wearable orange pieces that I dare you to try out...ok, double dog dare you! Oh, I almost forgot to mention, these pieces are all priced under $100!
If you fear that orange will wash you out, why not try it on your bottom half? The white/orange combo in this dress makes it easy to wear and the top detailing is very sweet.
aryn k- women's cottage dress $69
via 80's purple
J.Crew has always done orange well and their new fall pieces are no exception. Perhaps my favorite is the slinky, crinkly, sheeny (like those adjectives?) metallic skirt. This skirt would translate well from the office to drinks downtown.
Hammered Metal Skirt $78
via J.Crew
Looking for a sexy, colorful shoe? Look no further.
Seychelles Turnaround $74.99
via Piperlime
You didn't think I was going to leave out my favorite accessory did you? Try an orange scarf around your neck for an unexpected pop of color.
vintage VERA scarf Peach floral print Ladybug signature $18
via the Vintageholic frog
Still a little wary and not yet willing to commit? Try a small but bold brooch on your fall jacket or cardigan. This one has me drooling.
Jeweled starburst pin $68
via J.Crew
Make sure to to check out the other half of this series here (major decor eye candy!) We'd love your feedback and any suggestions or requests you may have.
Would you wear any of these pieces?

I never wear metallic (I'm a little too much of a wallflower), but I absolutely love that J. Crew skirt! Such a hot shoe, and that brooch is just stunning!

Love, Love! Should have known y'all would pick something fabulous and Orange it is. I've been mistaken for a TN fan... or sometimes even Clemson. (for me, it will always be Virginia).

Orange has always been my favourite colour, my wardrobe is filled with bright citrusy shades and coral/oranges. It wasn't until I entered the world of blogging that I heard so many people HATE orange! I would wear all of these pieces!

I'm glad you also have a love of orange. More people should too!

ok so i really love the color orange but i have a hard time wearing a solid orange piece. i prefer accents of orange like a gray top accented with bright orange, orange nails, etc. but that first skirt is quite tempting...could i? would i?...

great post. looking forward to more from you and alek. xoxo.

I am a huge fan of orange--not to wear. But here is a question. I want to paint a little sewing chest in bright orange enamel for my sewing room. I don't think it's an antique--might be. Don't care that it's a possibly an antique, even though it had my grandmother's sewing stuff in it--it would look cuter in orange. Would you, or your readers, paint a possible antique orange? Is that breaking some kind of rule?

I like orange. I have an orange sweater dress that I love but here in Alabama everyone mistakes it for an Auburn dress. I love that skirt!!!!

oooh Orange Crush! this is a great collaboration. I think orange is great, I really like it a lot, but yes, wearing it does get a bit tricky for me. I really like the aryn k- women's cottage dress. Its just the right shade of orange, and I like the mix.I had no idea J.Crew was so well Orange Oriented :)

Can't wait for the next edition!

I have an orange dress hanging in my closet that I've had for about 8 years and never worn. I decided last night that I'm wearing it Friday night to my birthday party !

I absolutely love the color orange. I guess being from Miami and our tropical climate all year long has something to do with it. I'm so excited about this series!

I have a love/hate relationship with orange. I had the misfortune of attending a university with the colors of Halloween. I spent nearly 4 years trying to be fashionable without being connected to a Beaver supporter (our school mascot!). To make things worse, I currently live in the city home to my school's rival and receive death glares if spotted wearing orange (such a tragedy because I really do adore the color). But I've managed to find a great few pieces (a cropped coat I LOVE) and would most certainly incorporate each of these pieces in my collection as well!! Great finds!

I'm so glad you and Alek did this post! I was just reading in a magazine how hot Orange is, but I struggle with how to wear it without looking like a giang pumpkin. This was perfect!
