Ok, so I need some advice and the issue is kind of gross (kind of gross, I promise it could be a lot worse.) My scalp is not behaving and I've tried changing shampoos numerous times and I'm still getting weird bumps (not a ton, just a few). I think it's time for me to try a scalp scrub but I've never used one. Here are my two choices (side note- I'm allergic to soy so I never choose products that contain it.)
Bain De Terre Sugar & Fig Scalp Scrub $14.39 (from $18)
This is the more expensive option.
Korres Green Silt hair and scalp scrub $30
We scrub our faces right? Why not our scalps?
Has anyone used a scalp scrub before? Am I the only one with a silly scalp?

Before you go out and buy products, you should try a scalp remedy I used to help with my gnarly scalp. Before I shampoo, I mix brown sugar, or better yet, turbinado, in my conditioner. Let's say two parts conditioner to one part brown sugar. Then I part my hair four ways and apply the concoction to each section making sure to scrub my scalp well, but not harshly. I then let it sit for about 10 minutes wash it out and shampoo as usual. It did the trick for me and you probably have those ingredients at home anyway.
ooooooooooh! these sound interesting! i have never tried a scalp scrub, but i LOVE facial scrubs and skin scrubs!
i wonder if you color your hair and if that might be irritating the scalp? maybe.
usually it's the change of weather, but tree tea oil helps. the body shop makes a great one. hope you get it resolved. you have such pretty dark hair!
I have never tried one but I am interested to see what you think of it... always good to know these things in case I get a bumpy head!
Washing the scalp is honestly something I've never thought of before. Very interesting...
I have the bumps on my scalp too, but I never saw it as a problem unless I would decide to shave my hair of, so everyone could see them - untill now!!! Now I wounder if I should get my bumps away too... :-)
how interesting...please tell us how it works out!
Now, that's something I've never heard of. Sounds refreshing though.
A scalp scrub does sound refreshing. I was all set to suggest fish oil tablets but I"m not sure that would actually help the scalp bumps... keep us posted.
BTW, the brown sugar scrub sounds great too!
I have this problem too (yuck). I have never heard of scalp scrubs, but I am definitely interested in trying one. Maybe I'll try the brown sugar scrub in the meantime.
I've never used a scalp scrub before. The brown sugar scrub that Southern Girl recommended sounds like it would work just as well.
I've never scalp-scrubbed, and even though I don't feel I need to, now I want to. I sounds so refreshing, and I love a good facial scrub. I'm going to try the first comment and make a conditioner / brown sugar scrub, mmmm!
Ok, I have never tried a scalp scrub before, but have done exfoliators on my face up the wazoo. My advice for you...the sugar scrub sounds like a great idea- sugar, especially brown, is an amazing exfoliator and will probably work wonders on your head as well....The Korres is another excellent option. I am pretty sure they sell it @ Sephora and if you buy it and hate it they are more than willing to take it back!
ooo, I've never tried scalp scrub. Let us know how it goes!
I have never tried a scalp scrub before...but I would say try the sugar and fig one! Both exfoliate skin really well...so I would have to say it would be great for the scalp too{?} Your hair is so beautiful! I'm sorry about this little problem....I am sure there is a fix for it!! and I hope the sugar and figs do the trick! :)
i scratch my scalp when i wash my hair. thats how i was raised when my granny would wash it in the kitchen sink..but never with a scrub.
check your hair care bottles for what may be in them that's natural but not for *you*. i have a friend that's allergic to soy and nothing looked as yuck as her head+aveda products. sad but true :(
Gee! No can't say ever heard of that - but I don't think it can do any harm! They look very good!
Soaking in a hot bath with cups of salt with do too but, it sounds like you might need to rethink your conditioner and/or shampoo.
I have a friend you has lovely dark, silky hair and she swears by her 'Head & Shoulders'..or is it "Prell"...one of those commercials we have been subjected to since the 1970's.
And some times just rotating your shampoo choices is a good relief effort.
Switch it up seasonally.
Be well.
Oh, I'm interested in trying that brown sugar scrub Southern Girl recommended...
