Happy Monday to you! I hope everyone had a good weekend. My two days off consisted of beginning but not finishing a lot of little projects, cleaning, drinking, eating, drinking again, spray painting, watching Law and Order, wondering if I should be doing something more and (most importantly) sleeping. B, who never ceases to amaze me with this proclivity towards domestic things, had an interesting encounter with Martha Stewart this past weekend. Allow me to explain.
B and I took a much needed trip to Michael's in order to stock up on supplies for those projects I didn't finish and while perusing the scrapbook section for decorative paper B came across these.
Giddy with excitement (ok, if B ever reads this, he will never forgive me) he showed me the set of "vintage" animal alphabet cards and said he had an idea for our hideous blank wall in the living area.
I gratefully replied, "great, have at it" and in a few hours, B had worked his magic (with Martha's guiding spirit, I'm sure). I forgot to take a picture of the blank wall for you, but I'm sure you can imagine a grey blank wall, no?
B hung the thick cards from picture wire in three rows using some small silver clips we found at Office Depot.
I love the way it turned out but what I love most about this little project is that it cost less than $15 and I didn't do any work on it.
My favorite animals are the ostrich, squirrel, and hedgehog (if you've been reading this blog for any amount of time, you've probably picked up on my affinity for these animals.) I think the vulture is pretty rad too.

These cards are nice and thick so I don't foresee any bending or warping. No we do not have children and although they'd go perfectly in a nursery, I think they're well suited for the vintage feel of the room.
Oh, and after he finished this project, he made an amazing steak and Gorgonzola salad (if you get the feeling I'm bragging, I am, pretty shamelessly too)...
I love the fact that B is as invested as I am in making our rental home a space that reflects our sense of style and personality. Now that B and Martha are friends, I think we can all lively happily ever after (that is until we move out of this roach friendly hell-hole, and then we can start all over again).

B! wonderful project!! I think it turned out fantastic. I think I will pick up a pack for my nieces who are really into animals, and this is a great idea, to place on LuLu's wall.
Sounds like you had a fun weekend. I was busy doing projects, inspired by you!
have a great day!
xx

that salad looks delicious!!
Aw, B is nesting. I love it! The alphabet animal wall is so much fun. And that yummy steak salad? Too much! My Boy will spend 4 hours smoking a pork loin (he loves that grill), but overall he is food lazy and I don't believe he would ever take the time to make a salad. Apparently to him it's just no fun to drink beer while cutting vegetables.
Way to go B!
That salad looks amazing!
I have to get some of these! How cute framed in my little guys room! That salad looks so yummy!
love what he did! and he cooks too?!?!? SCORE FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I think it's great he invests as well. My sweet husband puts his two cents on many ideas I have, and it makes me giddy!
Yummy salad!!
You should be bragging... this is amazing! Love the animal cards, and your dinner looks super yummy! You're a lucky girl!

Looks like a great way to enjoy your weekend too, making the place more yours. I can't pick which one is my favorite. I can not believe he made that incredible meal! I'm sure it tastes just as amazing as it looks!

Wow! What a find! (B and the Martha cards). ;-) Great wall decor and delicious-looking salad. Well Done!
Super creative. And that salad, yummmmmmm.
He's the perfect boyfriend. You gotta love a man who cooks for you. My hubs did all the cooking for a dinner party we had this weekend (for like 2 days straight) and I thought that was impressive but now I'm wondering why he didn't do some decorating too! :)
I love it on the rare occurrence when my two worlds collide. My husband would never pick something up for me at Michael's.
Aww B and Martha! Love it! And you didn't have to do anything which is the best part. And he cooks huh...that salad looks amazing!!
incredibly neat idea!
that salad looks delish!
brag away girly ;)
Looks great! Yay for creativity. Especially, when you can just enjoy!
what a great idea....love B!!!!!
and wow, that food looks yummmmmmy
wow!!! looks awesome!
Oh I loved this post! Brag all you want, lady!
These animal cards are delightful. I want to Mod Podge all over them! :D
If I were you, I'd be doing some pretty shameless bragging, too. The wall looks fantastic (much better than just a grey blank wall), and the salad is very inspiring. I've got my summer holiday now while my BF works, so I'll be doing a bit of cooking.
Awww - so sweet! Hey if you've got him to cook AND decorate, I think we've found a keeper!
I have to admit, I might steal this idea. Looks perfect!
Awwwaah. B is just adorable.
Love those cards, too. (I don't mean this in a bad way) they would also look great in a nursery.
i love these cards for a nursery!
Love the alphabet cards! I wonder if these cards are still available. They would be perfect in our guest bedroom, or maybe the office. Well, even if they are not available the idea is still inspiring!
