Sea foam rooms to wear your swimsuits in...

I'm obviously having a powerful craving for the ocean and all things sea side. Maybe I should bring the sea to me with some gorgeous sea foam interiors. This color has always been in my top five but it going through a spurt of popularity which makes me both happy and sad. Happy because it's everywhere and sad because I don't want some magazine to say "last year sea foam was in, but this year sea foam is so passe."
I've picked a variety of decorating styles to show the versatility of this beautiful color and why it should stick around.
Bohemian chic:
Sea foam is accented so nicely by orange, saffron, and coral.

Classic romantic:
The intensely rich curtains add glamour to this space.

Retro colorful:
This is one of my favorite spaces and I've been waiting for my time to use it. This sea foam is brighter and looks lovely against the patterned yellow. Did I already mention that I LOVE this space?

Classic and clean:
The sea foam color in this bedroom adds a soothing background. How awesome is that art wall (and the dwell studio sheets)?

Preppy traditional:
Here seafoam is accented by navy and brown in a "Hamptons" style room. The piece above this sofa is my favorite part.

Vintage-y:
I'd love to see more of this space as I'm getting a retro vibe from the few accents seen. The red and white towel is a nice styling plus.
via Marie Claire Maison
Mod:
Purple and sea foam are an unlikely match, but that's what fun about clashing colors. Sometimes it just works.
via Desire to Inspire
Modern rustic:
Here, the look is subtle and is accented by a large rustic looking bench. The natural light pouring in makes the space exceptional.
via Light Locations
For those of you interior designers, yes I made up the "style" names (my favorite being vintage-y, thank y0u very much). So, do you have a favorite room are you waiting for sea foam to be "soooo passe"?

I think this sea foam color would be perfect for my bathroom- very calming, and very beach-like. These pictures are beautiful and vintage-y is a great new word!

Nice set! Our living room is close to the color in the second to last pic, and I painted the inside of our arch metallic gold as well.
Random.
This will be the excuse for the better half to let me get purple pillows!

I love how full that bookshelf is int he second pictures, makes me very happy. I do want to know why it matters if something is passe or not. If you love something, shouldn't you go with your heart instead of what the world is telling you is in or out? Maybe I'm just weird...

You always find the best house inspiration! Love it.

sunshine- definitely go with your heart, i completely agree. being passe is neither here nor there for me, however, not acknowledging such a huge trend would be silly on my part.

Totally agree about the saffron and coral match with the seafoam--that is one of my favorite rooms. Also, love the little subtle hint of it in the curtains of that second room. Have a great day! xx

Great names you made up there!! :)

I'm with you on the Retro colorful... my very favorite of all. Classic and clean is similar to how we painted my sisters house a few weekends ago. She painted the living room and two bedrooms that color.

that's it. i cant take it anymore. i need to redecorate. badly.

also- LOVEEEE the video from the other day. yes, slightly disturbing. but seeing as you've read my TMI stories, I can't really say much. Ha. keep em coming!

I love the retro colorful one! The yellow & seafoam come together fantastically!

I never have thought much of seafoam, but lately it's really growing on me. I tend to like the softer hues rather than the brighter ones. Once you get towards teal, I kinda start to gag. But yeah, soft seafoam is really quite lovely!

Love the rooms, and love the syle names! I really like the modern rustic look. It seems I try to incorporate that into my own rooms.. with not as much luck!

SEA FOAM! such an awesome color! I love that it comes in trillions of shades..its completely versatile. My favorite would probably be the bright sea foam, its not so common to see it, but its remarkable. Amazing post, as always. You were born for this stuff, you are a style natural!

Lovely, just lovely!!!

Okay, I live at the beach, so, sea foam will never be passe for me ;)

I think I remember sitting on a chair like the blue one in a laundromat as a kid in the 70's.

Great pics!!!

Re: the second picture... I love, love LOVE rooms that are white and clean and let the person's possessions, like books, add the color to the space. Gorgeous!

oooooooh!!! these are so fabulous! i love it! trends are kind of a drag to try and keep up with. i think (hope!?!?!?) we can make whatever color we love work whenever we want it to?

I guess I've never really thought about difference in styling sea foam in rooms, but obviously it is very versatile and an all around great color!

I love that color!

how cool is that hidden tub, btw?!

Haute World said...

Wow, these are such perfect examples. I've seen some pretty bad sea foam attempts (usually they end up reminding me of those old-fashioned kitchy ice cream parlors), but these are just gorgeous. My favorites are the bohemian and retro ones. Sea foam is such a beautiful color but I guess the trick is to either keep it toned down if you're using a lot of it, or reduce it to an accent color if it's stronger.

Elizabeth Marie said...

I am "classic romantic"...I think I'm going to say that all day! I love all the rooms you picked and the hidden tub is AWESOME!

Oh, such eye candy, these seafoam rooms! I've been dying to paint my kitchen this seafoam blue/gray color I've picked out and know my craving to paint is so strong I just can't stand it! No time for now, but in about a month it's just going to have to happen.

I like to think that colors from nature never really go out of style.

Besides, the name just sounds nice. Sea. Foam.

Nice.
