Chair Nightmare

B and I spent our Friday night sanding (I'm actually sore today), priming (I kind of hate the primer we have, it's one level short of thick elmer's glue), sanding (which I should have done more of b/c of the stupid primer), painting (which was easy), but we only got one coat in before we were both too tired to move. We haven't even started on the kitchen table! Don't get me wrong, I'm a do-it-yourselfer in the making, I just woke up tired and I dreamed of chairs all night.
My chair dreams weren't wholesome and pretty like these...

Nope they were more like this...diy nightmares.

How do you save a chair that's destined for ugliness?
via here
Dreams where I can't leave rooms like this until all the chairs are sanded and primed...
via here
where I can't drink water until the chair is reupholstered...
and then to top of the irony of it all, I'm forced to sleep on the chair instead of my lovely bed.

This is the thanks I get for trying to fix up my kitchen chairs! Well I'm not giving up...those chairs will be pretty if my poor bicep has to suffer for a few more days.

You are too funny! Your dreams sound awful. Especially the one where you can't drink water until the chair is reupholstered. :) You will have to show us what you guys did!

ack!!! i am so sorry!!! diy is not always easy. i have boffed the job many times and am thus slightly leery of many diy projects. i think i know my limits! but it is good to try and personalize and save money and have a say in creation. glad you are game to keep on keepin' on with it!!! :)

p.s. aspercreme is kind of nice to rub on sore muscles, and it doesn't stink.

Sounds like hell, especially the dreaming about it part. I hate it when that happens to me. When I'm obsessing over something and it creeps into a sort nightmare night. But I'm with you on the not quitting. I'm sure they'll be gorgeous when done...

You have my greatest sympathy. I like to do DIY projects myself - but it is not easy at all... I´m on my third week of painting my very big carport. And now it has rained so much that I can´t paint this weekend... Will I ever be finished???

Sanding is seriously hard work! The chairs in the first picture are gorgeous though, nice inspiration. Here's hoping they turn out just as you hope! -e

I bet they turn out great... I can't wait to see them! (You're making me want to continue putting off painting my table though!)

thats so funny, there is absolutely nothing worse than falling asleep on a little chair like that, There's no gain without pain and it really will be worth it.

Ugh. I'm so with you.

I got it into my head to MAKE a shag rug by hand. At the rate I'm going, they will bury me with it. DIY sometime stands for Don't - It's Yucky.

Oh, no! I am so sorry! Take a long hot bath and I am sure they will end up wonderfully.

It will be worth it in the end... I promise. And think of the work out you're getting - no need to hit the gym (at least, that's what I tell myself! ha). What primer are you using?

Haha, sorry about the chairs. I bet they'll look great in the end!

Oh you poor thing! That sounds exhausting! I'm positive, one hundred percent positive, that it'll all pay off :)

Yay, stick with it! It will pay off, and your chairs will be great. (I bet they aren't as bad as you think they are). Good luck!

This post has me cracking up! I'm all for a little DIY action, but I have yet to tackle any big projects like painting furniture. I'm a bit scared to-and this post hasn't helped!
