You're so vain you think this post is about you...

Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? I suppose our mirrors might have different answers to that question, depending upon their loyalties. I have yet to come across an individual that doesn't have a mirror in their home, of some sort. I happen to like mirrors, a lot, but before you think start thinking "gawd, is she kidding me?" let me explain. Mirrors, especially large ones, help to expand a space and because they are so popular, you can find a mirror in pretty much any size, shape, or color you'd ever want, and if you can't find one that's perfect, you could always have one custom made. Mirrors are one of my favorite things, because whether you like it or not, they rarely lie, and how many things in life can you really depend on for that?
I enjoy collections of things on walls (you may have already picked up on that). I especially love the look of a "wall of mirrors" and what better place than over your living area?

I'd love to have a collection of mirrors one day...then I could constantly rearrange whenever the mood struck.

I have a smaller version of this mirror on my dressing table. It adds a touch of vintage glamour to the space.

I don't have a full length mirror in this new house (I know, how am I supposed to get dressed?!) I like the idea of a free standing mirror...

A giant, neutral mirror in a white space is unexpected and kind of perfect.

There's a design out there for ever sensibility.

A cluster of mirrors over a bed (not on the ceiling!) would look quirky and stylish.

A mantle is the perfect place to display a large, heavy mirror (we have this combo in our kitchen). See this post for another mantle, mirror, combo.

If you prefer a modern look, why not display a lot of the same mirror to create a stream lined design?

So many ideas, so little time...
Tell me, do you decorate with mirrors?

I love all those looks (apart from the cluster - I can't help feeling they look a little..barnacle like!). Mirrors are wonderful for opening up a room. I have a huge gilt one propped on a sideboard I love which I bought in a market very cheap.

LOVE! Mirrors send sparks of light through rooms in the most sophisticated and understated way... love them. Especially that last picture of them lined up so nicely! Great inspiration!

Oh, I adore the mirror collage! Adds such a fun dimension to the room. And the freestanding one in a bedroom is such a dream of mine.

Mirrors instantly make a room feel larger and more open, which I love;) I'm hoping to get a standing mirror for my workroom, but I want one extra-wide, and they are super-expensive . . . sigh. I'll just have to look at these pictures and daydream;)

these are really cool looking but I don't decorate with mirrors because I used to work in a salon before. Standing in front of mirrors for almost 10 hours a day, 6 days is weird. Plus I read recently that being around mirrors a lot can drive someone nuts! Maybe that is why I am the way I am haha!

I love mirrors too...I have a growing collection in my office!

i love your mirror post! i was wondering how you would tackle the ceiling mirrors thing -- ha!!!!

i have some old mirrors from my grandparents. they perk things up, add depth, dimension and the illusion of expansion to a room. they are fab.

i only like to look in mirrors when i am composed and ready to see my reflection. and i kind of hate when eating out and there are mirrors everywhere so you can see yourself chewing and chewing, like it or not.

boy, i am babbling here. sorry!

Totally agree with you about the mirrors! We JUST hung one above our headboard! I'll have to take a picture and post it one day! I love the living etc mirror!

I have a grouping of mirrors in the entry way - I worried at first that it would look to vain (loved the title of your post, btw) but am so glad I did it... it actually is kind of nice being able to check for a piece of spinach in your teeth before you walk out the door! :)

I'm so curious as to how they hung that cluster of mirror (from AT). Love how it's 3 dimensional.

I love decorating with mirrors. I started out liking mirrors bc it was easier to decide on/agree on than art when hubby and I first got married. I love old mirrors especially. I like how they lighten up a room or can add ambiance at night. I'm a fan!

I have a huge mirror collection - all mismatched XL French vintage - that I've always used for decorating, wherever we've lived.
They make a room larger, lighter and more open, plus, when postionned in a certain way, they reflect key features of the room ( either architecture or deco.) and, of course, when necessary can serve as mirrors to admire oneself in..!!!!
Beautiful selection you've got here :)

:) I love mirrors!! Fun fact- When I toured the 'Oak Alley Plantation' in Louisiana last summer, they said that when someone died, they would cover the mirrors with black veils for one year so the dead's spirit wouldn't get stuck in the mirrors. Very back woods cajun chic--yay for my heritage!! :)

I am in love with the free standing mirror! Would be perfect for deciding what to wear in the morning.

Two mirrors in my house that I love: I received a big white platter that I knew I would never use so I had an oval mirror cut to fit the center of the platter, glued it on and hung it on the wall. Very cool.

When we remodeled our bathroom we had a lftover plain large retangular mirror that hung over the sinks. We bought a hollow core door (Yeah, the mirror was pretty large), glued the mirror on it, added some beautiful molding on the top and bottom and it is now a floor mirror in our bedroom (attached to the wall for safety).

Mirrors are a fantastic way to open up a room and add more light especially if you don't have many windows. I have a beautiful vintage mirror with a thick frame hanging in my living room (there is very little light there). I am picky about mirrors though, so that's the only one i have, and it is special!

I love mirrors too and they really do open up a space. I really want a giant stand up mirror to prop up in my entryway or dining room. Still looking though.

I do love mirrors. But I don't love the ones that are kind of ugly and ill-placed in our apartment. I'm trying to think of ways to make them look more intentional and more stylish. Perhaps a group of smaller mirrors on top of the gigantic one is just the thing.

Mirrors can offer a great and stylish substitute for art, which can be expensive. Love the giant one you show here in your post; I've always wanted one. Perhaps one of these days! The overlapped gold-framed display was intriguing. Never seen that before. cheers, -susan

Mirrors are the secret to making a small apartment seem spacious- so long as you don't reflect your cluttered spots!
And who says no mirrors above the bed on the ceiling? I think a nice view might be gotten from that- and I definitely wouldn't be looking at myself... :P (Xrated mind)
