If you reside in a space with all hardwood floors, you know rugs are a must (ok, maybe not a must, but they're nice). We don't have rugs in every room, because we can't afford and the ones we do have, we go through quickly (thank you hairy little monsters). Most of what we currently have comes from Ikea, but I've been thinking I need to expand my "rug horizon" and I'm really liking what I see at Dash & Albert. They have tons of options and the prices are something we could feasibly afford (or at least save up for).
Here are my picks...
This one boasts of being "terrific for high-traffic areas and muddy messes." Just what I need.
Negril Indoor/Outdoor Rug $34-$495
This one's pricier, but I think it would look great in a dining area (not that I have one of those).
Vine Denim Wool Tufted Rug $95-$2198
This one would work well in our living area, I think.
Birmingham Citrus Cotton Woven Rug $28-385
I really like circular rugs for bathrooms but my dogs automatically see them as beds.
Clair Chenille Braided Round Rug $40-150
Perhaps you're in need of something a bit more neutral.
Swedish Stripe Cotton Woven Rug $28-385
{all picks via Dash and Albert}
Look at what these rugs do for their spaces...
Love the chevron pattern against the bright chartreuse.

This rug helps to carve out the seating area in a large, studio space.

Rugs and walls can certainly match as long as there are strong, contrasting colors to break up the space (oh and I'm kind of in love with that chair).

Rugs are a great place to incorporate pattern (a little, or in this case, a whole lot).

Where do you buy your rugs? Any affordable options you'd like to share?
{Someone asked me what type of dog Kya is...she is a golden retriever- chow mix. She's a rescue dog and was scheduled to be euthanized a couple of days after I adopted her.}

yay, we have the first one in our house, well, very similar if not the same.
Oh I just love those chartreuse chairs... WANT! I usually hit up IKEA for rugs... I have kids so the rugs get extra abuse and a couple of the rugs I have from IKEA we just pop in the washing machine. I always like the trick of putting together two of the same rugs to make one big one... nice inexpensive option!
wow!! Rugs really change how the room looks. I'm rather impressed with the round one!! Although all the colours are very nice!
um, love that chair.
i have hardwood floors and i was debating whether i should invest in a rug and this sort of confirms it, haha
Strangely, I have found some of the best rugs at IKEA. There are an import haven of rugs.
Though my favorite finds are the ones found on road trips. One big Persian was had from Sedona, Arizona and some others dragged right off the loom in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Some found at the farmer's market of Oaxaca, Mexico that are a very tight loomed weave with a tight visual tribal pattern, in deep colors.
oh i love all of them! i especially love the one seen on apartment therapy. rugs can totally make a room. btw speaking of kya, i used to have a girl pup that looked just like her and she was the same mix. she was also scheduled to be euthanized at only 4 months! but my college roomie and i saved her.
I actually bought my first Ikea rug this weekend. I've got two hairy monsters so we go through rugs very quickly. I just posted a pic today if you want to see . . .
I just bought a new rug today. You can see it on my blog tomorrow :-)
I'm going to have to agree with Ikea!
And thats so sweet about your dog...I think rescuing is so important <3
i have hardwood floors and was JUST thinking about getting some rugs from ikea. but we have such DESTRUCTIVE FELINES. hahhaha. and now you have given me more options to consider besides ikea. YAY! thank you!
I buy rugs at IKEA because they're cheap, but also because IKEA has (or at least claims to have) a certain standard in labourer's working conditions. After I read about what the children in the Asian rug industry go through, I'm never ever going to buy a rug without checking the ethical profile of the rug companies I'm considering.
I just noticed that you focus on ethical products - so do I! I'm convinced that if everyone does a little, it'll amount to a great deal.
On a lighter note: I love the Living Etc photos!

T.J maxx just had some Dash & Albert indoor/outdoor rugs for $60. They didn't have any colors that would work with my home though. Almost bought one to save for the future, but thought that would be bad since I am on a hiatus.
You are so right about rugs being a necessity! I just love Dash and Albert--it is where all of my small area rugs are from. And I do love FLOR too--great for awkward sized spaces.
You're totally right about Dash & Albert. I LOVE their rugs. I have one of the cotton mats in my kitchen and it's amazing! Because it's washable!!! Which is a necessity in my kitchen. My mom has them too, and she actually has backups so when she washes them she has a spare to put down while the other is (air) drying.
Gorgeous rugs! I would love to have a rug in my bedroom, but my lab sheds all over the place. If I were to have one, these would all make me happy!
I'm a huge fan of all things Chevron. That white and blue one is also gorgeous.
However, I feel like anything white would get stained within 30 seconds at my house (too many parties + dark liquids).
We just have one rug (tiny apartment) and we got it at Ikea.
I actually am always astounded at how much difference a great rug can make! I have two big ones which my mum handed-me-down.
I love to buy rugs during my trips . I love to buy them in The Bazaar in Istanbul or In marrakech ...ANd some in Mexico , which are my favorite
its beautiful.. the last picture is lovely..
these are all lovely!
Floor rugs are an absolute necessity (especially on hard wood floors). Great finds.
omg, i need that striped rug!
