Making recycling look good

As things slowly come together in our new space (and yes, I'm working on photos soon), it has become grossly apparent to me, that we do not have a good set up for our recycling. Well, we have no set up at all, really. We sort of stack bottles and paper in a corner of our kitchen and then haphazardly carry them out to the street when the time comes. A solution for this problem does not need to be expensive, but I do need to be creative. I've collected a few images to help get my creative juices flowing.
There's no reason to hide the fact that you recycle, so why not stylishly display it? This space is too cute from the metal letters to the photographs of what's supposed to go where. Unfortunately we don't have the space for a set up like this.

Here are some space saving options that are simply fun and well organized. Pegboards are cheap and easy enough to paint.

Here are a few products I'm thinking about:
This keeps the recycling from view which is nice if you don't want people to see how many beer bottles you have. Price is too high for our budget (come on sale!)
2-Bin Recycling Center $169

Here's a cheaper option that would keep our recycling organized (I'm just not a fan of the black).
Stacking Recycling Bin $19.99

I'm leaning towards these b/c they have handles, which would make carrying the recycling to the street a lot easier, and the price is in my budget. I think I'm going to get all three.
Jute Recycling Paper, Plastic, or Bottles Bag $6.99 for one

How do you display (or hide) your recycling? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I love the giant recycle sign in the first pic! I just have two separate trash cans... and spend half the day sorting when guests/the boyfriend use the wrong ones :)

I love the first ones! Simple and elegant. I usually just throw them in a bag under the sink, but these are great!!

PS
I have been admiring your blog from afar as well, and I will be more than happy to exchange links!! Thank you so much!!

I love the first option. I am embarrassed to say but we do not recycle. There isn't a place around:(

I feel your pain! We have recycling storage issues, and garbage issues in general. I hate the look of an open garbage can just hanging around the house, but we have no cabinet space to hide them. And the nice looking garbage/recycling containers are always so pricey! You know what I really want? A garbage shoot: a little door in my wall that I toss it into, and it goes somewhere else and I never have to think about it again.

Yeah, right.

We installed one of those pull out trashcans in our cabinets - we bought one with two slots... one for trash and one for recycling. I don't want anyone thinking I'm a wino when they see how many wine bottles there are! ha

I do like the peg board option, but do you think it will be strong enough? I do like those jute ones - they look so eco and would be cute sitting side by side in a room.

This is a GREAT post! I need this so much. My recycling is stashed in a brown shopping bag under the sink. It's convenient because it's near the garbage can...but I love the pegboards in the garage, and those jute bags are fabulous! Thanks for the great ideas.
