Interiors: Feeling Warm and Cozy

You know what would really make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside? If I were drinking a hot toddy while taking a bath in that gorgeous bathtub. Are any of these spaces making you feel all warm and cozy?

Decor: Mr. Cooper

I'd like to introduce you to my new favorite decor item, Mr. Cooper. This spun copper pendant light is by Australian design studio Coco Flip. Specs for "Mr. Cooper" can be found here. Isn't he sexy?

Interiors: A Black Kitchen (and it's awesome)

Ok, so admittedly the kitchen may not be black but rather a very dark navy blue but I'm having to make an educated guess here so go with it. I've never seen a kitchen this dark that I've actually liked but the retro touches help make the space less serious and more approachable. And how about that porcelain cat? Perfectly kitsch and so realistic it's almost creepy. Check out the rest of the home here (the bedroom is all kinds of interesting).

What better on a Monday morning than some bright, cheerful color inspiration? I'm loving these bold spaces with their bright hues and daring color combinations. I need a bathroom just like the first space to wake me up every morning! The tile alone makes me want to dance. Happy Monday :)

Interiors: Beachy Cool

House Beautiful was the only magazine that that miraculously found its way to my new home in Raleigh thanks to the forwarding power of the post office. I'm thankful it did too because I adore the 60's style beach house featured in the Sept 2011 issue. The aqua, yellow and peach hues are invigorating yet clean. Perfect spot to relax after a dip in the ocean, don't you think?

Interiors: Plant Life

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. It's actually more like a special talent that I possess. I don't like to brag but I have this innate ability to make plants wither and slowly die just by looking at them. This is why, when we attempt to keep plants in the house, I not only refuse to look at them, but I certainly won't touch them for fear they'll simply give up on life and dry up. Watering a plant makes me nervous because I never know if I'm giving them too much or too little water and judging by past attempts at keeping these little green friends alive, I am almost always incorrect in watering measurements.
I'd like to keep plants in the house. I think they're incredibly charming and add an organic feeling to just about any space. With our new space, I'm going to attempt to turn over a new leaf and learn how to be more plant friendly. We currently have two plants on our porch and so far I haven't gone anywhere near them. B's taken over responsibility for keeping them alive and I can only hope he knows what he's doing. If you have any suggestions for resilient plants (besides cactuses, thank you very much) that I might have a chance of keeping alive, I'd love to hear them!

Interiors: Orange + Aqua by the sea

I'm really liking the color scheme of this vacation home by the Baltic Sea as featured in Hus & Hem. I'm generally not a fan of the orange and blue combo (does anyone else think college football when they see orange and blue?) but the space is so fresh and the orange add a vibrant, unexpected touch. The little work nook tucked underneath the stairs is pretty charming as well. Check out the rest of the space here

Interiors: Casual Comfort

These spaces are all from different homes but they seem to flow quite nicely together. They have a slight country chic vibe but mostly they exude warmth and comfort. Ultimately I think I'm drawn to these spaces because they seem realistic and liveable. Being well-styled is one thing, being liveable is a whole other topic, wouldn't you say?

Interiors: Neutral Zone

It has been a few months since I've posted some of my favorite "neutral" toned spaces. Spaces that are entirely white are generally too cold feeling for me. I enjoy whites mixed with cream, wood, and soft color. Simple and lovely, no?

Interiors: Open Kitchen Shelving

The kitchen is B's territory. He cooks so he gets the say in how the kitchen is organized and and I'm hoping one day he'll be able to design the kitchen of his dreams. Thankfully, we both agree that open shelving is a must! Why hide away all those pretty plates and cups and such? I say, if you got it, flaunt it.

pssst...if you like interiors, you'll love D&OC II, updated daily with lots of dreamy spaces.
