I hope you've had a great weekend. As the craft fair draws nearer, I've shifted my focus from creating jewelry to creating displays. I want to share with you how I've outfitted B's uncle's painters case from the early 1960's to a jewelry display. The rules for me using this sentimental item inluded no sanding, painting, drilling, decopauging, or doing anything that might permanently change the case. The case itself is beautiful, telling a story of a painter's toolbox...
I decided to cut fabric to fit the lining of the case and I adhered the fabric using a double sided hem tape which is more secure than normal double sided tape. This tape is also flexible enough to not rip into the wood.
The cubby holes in the center are perfect for holding brooches, earrings, or hairpins. I'll be spreading my items out among numerous vintage plates, but I definitely want to utilize this space.
I'll use the top portion of the painter's case to hang some of my necklaces. I found the perfect sized clothes pins at Michael's yesterday. This way, people can easily try on the necklaces and place them back if they (sadly) don't want to purchase one.
I am incredibly happy with the results. The display will add some color and dimension to the overall table.
I've also added three new necklaces to the shop (most of what is pictured here is not in the shop currently). Here I am wearing one of them:
What do you think? The fair is in only two weeks and there's still lots to do! I can't wait to see how the final table comes together. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears.

It looks great!! Naomi did this with her drawers but with maps, but this is such a feminine touch. It displays your work beautifully.

Gorgeous. So creative!
what a terrific idea! All the little compartments look perfect for the jewelry. The splattered old paint on the sides add so much charm and character too.
I love this! Really great idea. Post photos of your booth, cant wait to see!
I know I say this often, but you are such a creative genius Christina! I love the painter's case, and it's so special to have something personal like that to use for your display. It showcases your beautiful jewelry just perfectly. I wish I could make it to the show to see it in person!
I'm doing one on May 1st. I have an old key display that spins, and a found some old wooden boxes (they're kind of like the ones used for clementines, but bigger and sturdier) that I'm using. I'm going to stack them on my table with picture frames inside. I put cork with fabric over it in each frame, and am using corsage pins to hand bracelets and necklaces.
Good luck! I love the painter's case!
Well I can certainly relate to this creative idea!! Very nice!
I have a new post and interview up I think you will enjoy!
