Shirt dresses are not my favorite type of dress. I seem to have trouble finding ones that fit comfortably and don't bunch in weird areas (i.e. under my armpits.) Although I haven't had much luck with them in the past, I'm willing to give them another try and I've expanded my definition of "shirt dress" for our purposes here. I like the idea of a shirt dress especially for work so I've chosen a variety of styles, some conservative others with a creative interpretation. All of them are under $100!
Rhea dress by BB Dakota via Need Supply Co. $85; Elizabeth Shirt Dress via Delia's $44.50
The Strapping Shirt Dress via Modcloth $39.99; Women's Belted Shirtdress via Old Navy $29.50
Abingdon Dress via Scarfu $90; Tie Neck Shirtdress via Ann Taylor Loft $79.50
Short Sleeve Shirt Dress by BCBG $98; Mango Slouchy T-Shirt Dress via Asos $59.66
What do you think? Are you a shirt-dress fan? Have you found a comfortable style?

mmm i love these, esspecially since spring is right around the corner
I find shirt dresses quite difficult to wear basically for the fitting reasons you described, but I found the perfect one and it is SO worth it!! These are all so beautiful, thanks for all the inspiration!

Love this last one in blue!
In theory, I really like the simple comfort of shirt dresses, but, like you, finding the right fit is a trial. But these are all so cute, I keep trying :)
I really like the Elizabeth Shirt Dress but especially love the BCBG one!!! such a pretty color!!
Shirt dresses are one of the best discoveries ever!
Oh my goodness.. that yellow and grey one is adorable!!
xoxo
i have some winter shirt dresses, but they are kind of tricky in the butt area when belted (i have a big butt, and they make it look GIGANTIC)!
I like those!
I recently got a simple 3/4-sleeve belted black one with a style similar to your Old Navy pick from Target's Converse One Star line. It was on clearance, so the price was right!
These are great modern interpretations! And I would so recommend scouting for these at vintage stores. There is ALWAYS something great from the 50s/60s in a shirtdress to be had!
i'm a HUGE fan of shirt dresses! i like the strapping shirt dress and the abindon dress! i hope to buy some for spring!
i have that one from old navy in black! now that i have this baby belly not sure if it will fit but i loved it!
I actually love shirt dresses and these are such great options! Especially love the simplicity of the old navy one!
ohhh! i've always wanted a shirt dress, too, but had similar problems with fit..
I'm with you. I love them, but have trouble with them fitting properly. I love the LOFT one, tho. I might have to stop by my local store and try one on. Thanks for posting! You rock.
i LOVE shirt dresses!! :) great collection here! xo.
These is such versatile and casual item, but I agree with you, it is hard to find one that fits really well. These look great!
P.s. thanks for visiting my blog :-)))
I definitely like the idea of shirt dresses. They seem to classic, low maintenance and chic. But I have never found one that looks good on me! These ladies in their shirt dresses look fab though. Maybe I'm too short :P
These are a must for summer. I can't stand anything but cotton during the heat wave!
Love the purple dress in the first picture. I love those dresses, you can dress them up or dress them down.
