Let the Light In

This gorgeous ranch home, featured in February's issue of House Beautiful, makes me sigh (simply put). The house is designed beautifully, of course, but it's the light in the home is what I envy. If I could design my own home, from start to finish, I would want to put the strongest emphasis on natural light. Against a neutral background, the light in this home is perhaps the strongest design element.

I think House Beautiful hit the nail on the head with this ranch; its perfection. I can feel the light through the images and I love the combination the rough and elegant elements, not to mention it turns the stereotype of a ranch's choppy, dark rooms upside down. Certainly one for the files!

I was just reading this issue and thinking the same thing! That bedroom would be a delight to wake up in every morning.

beautiful! my home's greatest flaw is the lack of natural light...if we are there for a few more years, i am going to have to put in a window or two!

hi c, happy new year! you're so right about light! i miss it a lot these days; living in norway is very dark in winter. natural light and white walls help a lot!

I totally agree..I loooove natural light. I live in San Francisco so my whole living room is lined with bay windows and it feels like walking into heaven when I wake up in the morning and walk in there.

Only problem is there is only one light in the whole room so its really dark at night and I haven't gotten around to buying a floor lamp...oops.

let there be light! but not in a jesus-y way!

i used to have an apartment west hollywood with windows galore. the light just flooded in, and it was pretty cool. plus the kitties loved sitting in the window soaking it up. i was on the second floor, so they loved to laze in the windows, catch the rays, watch the birds, and soak it all in while feeling superior to all beings below. not a bad life. ahahhaha.

sorry for babbling!
