Two tanks

I recently bought two tanks tops that I have a feeling I'm going to be living in all summer. There's not much of a current budget for clothing, so I'm having to be really picky, that means versatile, comfortable, and pieces that will hold up. Athens gets VERY hot in the summer, so tank tops are a necessity (especially when you're lounging around the house). Here are my two choices for a basic tank...
American Apparel Tri Blend Racerback Tank $19
These are soooo comfortable and super easy to layer. They're also the perfect, "I'm so hot I'd rather be wearing nothing, but since I'm forced to be civilized, this will do."
I have the "Tri Coffee" but I wouldn't mind having one in each color.
Racer backs are fun to wear but can get a little tricky (i.e go bra-less if you're brave, or come up with some creative layers or bra solution).

My second choice is Gap's Favorite Ribbed Tank $10 (on sale from $14.40) I'm generally not a fan of ribbed clothing, but this classic style is cut so nicely and I can't help but feel a little sexy when I'm wearing it.
They come in an assortment of colors and with the current sale, I think I'm going to need to buy a few.

So do share, do you have a favorite go-to tank? Is there a classic style you prefer?

sometimes victoria's secret has tanks on sale for $10 or so. not the best quality ever, but they usually last me for a couple of summers. ;)

I generally layer tanks with floaty sleeved tops. That being said, the ones I wear every day are from Zara. Not too shabby.

I go for the target tanks. They actually seem to fit me best although I do have a few from J.Crew (on sale). I love the racer back one's though.

These are great choices, but I stick with Old Navy ones, and good ol' Hanes men's tanks!

"I'm so hot I'd rather be wearing nothing, but since I'm forced to be civilized, this will do." Hilarious.

I'm not too into tanks myself, only as layering pieces I suppose.

I just love ribbed tanks... I could wear a black or white one every single day of the summer! (and of the winter for layering!) so soft and lightweight...

Ah I love tank tops especially cheap ones. I got some from Old Navy that I love and fit perfect. I'm sure they are like the Gap ones. As for the racerback tank, I find that the racerback bra works just fine. I would never be brave enough to go braless. haha

Oh, I just adore the ribbed ones from j c.rew--so many wonderful colors and good weight!

love your description of the AA tank!!

I love tanks with a built in bra when I can find them!

I am super into racerbacks right now, so much so that i have bit the bullet and bought a racerback bra (you know you're committed when you go out and buy a special bra...). James Perse makes a really nice one. And for straight up tank tops, I like Vince a lot--they're super soft, and like your gap ones, the cut is just right.

isn't it funny how something as simple as a tank top can be analyzed like a science?!

Oh i love racer back tank tops. Yes the bra thing can be a little tricky, but VS has a new bra that is called 7 wonders or something like that. I just bought it and it would work on these. You should look it up and see all the amazing things it can do. If i haven't told you before...Your blog banner is adorable!

topshop are pretty good for simple ribbed tanks, but those AA ones look gorgeous, are they worth the price?
