Alright Readers, I need your help. I need to know if faking it is ever ok...let me explain. Yesterday, B and I were at the grocery store doing our normal Sunday afternoon errands. I walked by the fresh flower stand, stopped, picked up some lovely deep fuschia gerbera daisys and debated on whether or not to buy them. I LOVE having fresh flowers on the kitchen table, however, in this case I put them back. Fresh flowers simply are not in my current budget. Occassionally, I'll treat myself to them, but I couldn't justify it yesterday. Does this make me sad? Yes, but a girl's got to do what a girl's got to do.
So I guess my question is, is faking it ever ok? Now before you scream "NO" at your computer screen, pause and take a deep breath. My initial thought is that fake flowers are just that...fake and who wants a cheap imitation lying around? But then, I saw these photos yesterday and they make me second guess myself.
So simple, so easy, and I like the look of these (and I have vases very similar.)
But they're fake.

I was actually thinking about doing a post on this very topic! I have fake Gerber daisies in my office and fake tulips and peonies at home. I love them and they obviously last so much longer than real flowers. Everyone always compliments me on the ones in my office and are shocked when I say they aren't real. So, I think that you can definitley fake it:)
go for it! in fact, if you do something like the ones in last pic it really wouldn't be faking--more like being artsy creative since they're obviously not real.
I have a hard time keeping any plant alive so I will occasionally go the fake route and I prefer the silk kind if at all possible and spend the extra money for the type that don't look as fake. I am actually debating what to have in my hair for my wedding. I really want to have a large rose, gardenia, magnolia in my hair but it can wither away fast on the head and may not stay in that well so I have considered having a fake flower in my hair and I keep finding really cute ones but I keep going back to the real kind. As you can see this is a difficult decision for me too!

Definitely! I even had fake bouquets at my wedding. They were latex magnolias and I still have the flowers in a vase in my office!
Okay so I have asked myself this very question time and time again, and I've come up with a firm answer: as long as they aren't pretending to be real. Therefore, I'd get the last ones on your post. Arty, not-posing-as-the-real-thing fake flowers are just as cheerful as the others, and they are just . . . less lame. ;) I have fake flowers on my dining room table, but they're made out of cloth and I got them at Pier 1. They do the job, but you don't have to deal with the "do these look like I got them at Michael's?" question!
Oh gosh. I was pretty confident with my answer until I saw the rest of the comments from the lovely ladies above. I am going to go against the grain and say "No, stop! There is a way to enjoy real flowers!" I have been in the same place before, wondering whether I should jump on the real posies at the store- and I used to pass each time. (I did enjoy my share of silk flowers from age 7-18.)

Seriously, it has changed (a small part of) my life forever! I love going grocery shopping and finding the cheap bargain and spreading it all around my apartment. I have about 6 vases that I rotate biweekly with fresh color and they actually last 14 days- just in time for new ones.

I think fake plants are ok, as long as they are GOOD fakes - no blue roses! I have a pretty brown thumb so I rely of some nice fakies in the house myself. You have to be willing to pay, though as they tend to be more expensive than the real obvious fakes!
